Try to get into Centocor Ortho Biotech or Tibotec.
Try to get into Centocor Ortho Biotech or Tibotec. The biotech divisions of J&J are considered the cream of the crop of all J&J companies so the salaries and bonuses of the reps are extraordinarily high, the highest in all biotech companies out there plus the amazing benefits like pension, stock, great company car, etc that J&J tops all the other companies with. Despite the high salaries, the work expectations are extremely low. Specialists and Hospitals have closed their doors to drug reps so they don't even see their physician targets anymore yet work with their managers to fake their calls, pad their numbers, and manipulate the data so it looks like they are being effective in the field. It's all smoke and mirrors. It's very easy to do and they're all getting away with it, have been for years. The reps and managers are older and have more years in the business so the work expectations for the old fogeys such as programs, paperwork, etc are nonexistent compared to the other J&J companies. No micromanagement, very stress-free. Because the biotech divisions are doing so well they are getting all the credit for the success of the products even though they have absolutely nothing to do with it and reaping all the rewards. Best gig ever. Go for it.

That's great that the biotech divisions of j&j are doing so well. Would love to get j&js great benefits plus a high salary. Which divisions of centocor ortho biotech are hiring? I'm with genentech and the company is in the process of having major layoffs so I'm looking to jump ship. Biogen idec is currently laying off a ton of rituxan reps as well so there's a lot of biotech reps that will be unemployed in a few months looking for their next biotech position. Centocor ortho biotech would be a great fit for me. Any information on where the expansions are taking place would be much appreciated. Thanks.
Centocor is in the process of replacing all of its high-salaried academic hospital reps with levaquin and aciphex reps. The end is near for everybody who makes a 100k base and over at COBI.

Betcha 10K you are wrong! No changes at COBI for 18 months. Put your money where your mouth is...smartass.
18 months is too a long time to continue paying all those COBI people such high salaries when they don't even work. Their physician customers don't see reps anymore. No access in the hospitals or specialists offices. No reason to have so many reps just faking calls and pretending to work every day. I can't see things continuing the way they are here. I give it less than 6 months. COBI reps are too expensive compared to contract or mcneil reps.
Do they have common sense in the psycho world where you live? I have no access issues in my accounts and the ISA in my area has no access issues. Have a couple of ISA friends in other parts of the country, they see their customers too. You're a bitter ex-centocor or just a troll. Like you this thread is boring and tired.
Keep justifying your job. We all know doctors don't see reps anymore. The hospitals don't allow access so even if one of your docs would meet you out of pity you're not allowed in the accounts anymore.
I work the hospitals with my ISA all the time and there is little problem with access. He gets in most places and the docs love him. You can't buy that or get it with some rookie Ken or Barbie.
The academics will be here long after the negative whiners are gone. Still here, driving sales, earning the big bucks and padding the pension. Life is good at JnJ.
Agreed. 8 years in and a million in CASH comp later - not to mention the benefits - JnJ has profited from our business relationship. That's right, son, some of us are not no-access, sales-aid toting, lunch-catering, signature-collecting whiners.
