I'm considering an offer for HPV clinical sales rep. Is this position basically a pharma job where I would convince a doctor to "prescribe" a HPV test and wait around for his or her numbers to show up on some data sheet months later or do you walk out of the sales call with an "order"?
 

This position is really not like pharma at all. When you convert a practice to adjunctive HPV screening you will then work with your contacts at the laboratory where the office sends specimens to verify test volume. It is up to the clinical specialist to organize the conversion and implementation of the office, including addressing patient education needs, requisition modification, tracking, reimbursement, etc....
 
actually the first person is correct--you do have to wait and see if the numbers coincide with what the dr says he will do--there is no contract and no guarantee the laqb will report the numbers correctly.
pharma without samples!!yay!!

As you can see... there are some "disgruntled" employees on this board. There are ways to track your own progress, aside from "waiting for numbers", or relying on what Dr's tell you they are doing. These posters are why people are getting fired- because they aren't working!

Where is the territory? Still waiting to here from the managers about the Southwest VA territory. Has someone been hired already?

The top candidate turned down the offer for this territory because he or she lived in Richmond, VA and it would be too much travel.
