Contract reps

I heard a rumor today that contract reps are being hired to fill openings in respiratory.
That doesn't sound good for our future
What's the positive spin on this move?

I think quite a few people that made it through the lay off got out right after. They are filling those with contract reps. Way to fill us with confidence Teva. This division will be axed by the end of the year. Unreachable goals setting up for the big move to entire contract sales force.

One of my ex teammates retired in January. A friend of hers contacted her to discuss the lay-of-the-land before he accepted/rejected the position in her old territory. He's a contract rep. He's being offered ~$70K with a car allowance. That's what's happening.

Is my math right?
160 reps, we'll say average 100K base
Eliminate existing reps
Hiring csr's at 70K = first year savings of 4.8 mil
Hmmm

Yep, you got it. They'll be contracted through the end of Q-3 then the entire respiratory brand will be sold off or dismantled by years end. Do the math on that and you'll see why it makes sense.

The division is not going anywhere. Look at the R&D investment for future studies and data for Digihaler. It will take a bit to prove the economic benefit, but it is there, then managed care and health system networks will be all over this line of products. Grow our business where we can today and the future will be fine.
