DM by the initials of...

Hate to break the news to you guys but phadia will never get rid of a manager. The more incompetent they are - the more upper management likes them. I could tell you the best stories about my manager but it would take 2 days to fill you in on his incompetence, insecurity and lack of strategy. Great liar and plays the smooching game well.

Why is it so challenging to find good leaders? The company sometimes takes months to find a good CSC for a geography but apparently the same standards do not apply to management?
Forget leadership surveys, the regionals and or MM should be asking the CSCs directly in one on one reviews. It's enough already.

The reason the DMs are so weak is that they are hand-picked by the regionals. They don't base hiring DMs/others on qualifications but rather if they will be a puppet (and heavy kool-aid drinker) for the puppet-master. While they may post job openings for DMs, etc. they already know who is slated for the position. The team I worked with is a great case of that. Individuals on the team interviewed for the manager position and they picked the one with inferior creditials and no management background. Why? well it was already planned out by that infamous inner circle. The individual hired was a friend of a regional.

The poor hiring of management will continue at Phadia until an individual/s with significant titles (above regionals) do something about it. However, if you voice your opinion (CSC, etc.) or try to point out this obvious problem to management - you just signed your own death certificate. Please, heed my advice and be careful what you say and to who.

Yes, the past two years have posted heavy losses in sales areas. If you have a strategy, keep it to yourself.

I'll bite at this one. I have posted on the Pharmacia board several insights why this company is not substainable. Everytime management has followed up my posts with a bunch of sh*t. I know first hand how crass and vulgar many of Phadia managers are. Your very HR dept. spread hurtful, damaging and malicious gossip about an EX-employee because this person was honest about the situation s/he was facing.

"Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people"...you be the judge of which you are.

"Great minds think alike" proverb

If all great minds never thought alike, then how would great people work together to create great discoveries? I mean, if they never thought alike wouldn't they always have different points of views, and wouldn't get along....hmmm...complicated.

Big difference between collaborative crowd-thinking and groupthink. Look at the difference between a think tank at NASA, Stanford, etc. and the Third Reich machinations. It isn't all that complex in theory.

What is JB doing that is so horrible?

No clue and don't care. The Midwest is a difficult area for many CSCs. JB is a new DM and probably is playing by "Ms. blind carbon copy emails" playbook. New managers typically are strict at the beginnning and then become more lax.

Gossip is rampant at Phadia. At one of their countless conferences (waste of time and $), I had the misfortune of having to take the elevator with the most worthless DM. The manager saw what floor I pressed and insinuated that I was on the same floor as another DM on PURPOSE. He further told me that rumors were "flying" around about me and how promiscuous I was. Same DM told my customers that I was just a seductress. The DM has a job because his team is strong.
