Downsizing, Firings & Freezes

The hiring freeze, errrr pause, is slowly being lifted. Priority given to new positions for new accounts onboarding from Quest or LabCorp. Some back fills being approved but more phlebs leaving by the week means still going backwards overall. Open floater, TL and Supervisor positions not fillable yet means coverage is scarce and inconsistent.

RIF’ed 20% of the sales team last week. Fired immediately without warning.

40 or more downsized from corporate and the sales team. Cutting smaller accounts loose. Constant Teams calls.

No direction or information from leadership but “it’s coming”. Eight days in and not a single word from anyone.

Is this company being setup to be sold pretty soon?

There was never any direction or leadership with this company why should they began now!

I wonder if the Chicago group thinks we can be saved. We put a lot of eggs in the Covid basket, they got hella rich for 2 years and now we’re struggling. Paps are taking a week, phlebs are quitting, we’re losing clients weekly, no real info or direction from upper management to speak of. Wonder how other labs are doing?

Upper management as we’ve known it have sold out to the golden parachute coming when the newest Chicago owners sell out to a national. The old guard boys club is doing the dirty work getting messes cleaned up for the sale.

They already cashed out on the huge Covid windfall with whopper bonuses and equity shares.

If any employee thinks the good ole boys are watching out for them then they are foolish and misguided. They’re going to cash out and be gone like a f@rt in the wind.

Laid off Client Services reps even though they’re a full week behind on PBLM’s/problem tickets.

Pathology and cytology TAT’s are longer than they’ve ever been. EVER. And that is after buying multiple pathology groups over the past couple of years.

Every department is a train wreck. They even let go the most successful sales rep in company history because they “cost too much”.

Right after I left I was told they let some people go. The hiring freeze also was in effect because I dont think if they filled my spot. That’s the nature of this company DYSFUNCTION ! I don’t see with this going on how this can end well!
