Considering an offer to be an EAM in an open territory.

Have read through some of the info on here, but would appreciate some insight on the current state of this division, position, management, culture, and pay.

I have spoken to some and have had mixed opinions. Thank you for honest feedback.

Don’t do it brother. Olympus is a horrible company. They will no longer pay you what you what you are worth.

Ask the RVP for commission statements for the last 12 months in the territory you are interviewing for.

Second this. If you like making basement rate commissions (literally 1.5% of revenue) then Olympus is the place for you. It’s the worst paying medical job in the industry when considering the volume you sell and the sheer amount of responsibility. You’ll be a mule at low, low commission rates. Be sure to ask the manager about “PIF” and how completely lopsided it is to the company. (You’ll work for peanuts)
And you’ll work for a King Kong-sized shit head who thinks Olympus scopes sell theirselves. Todd Usen, do the right thing and resign already. NO ONE wants you at Olympus.

OK- so I'll give you the real scoop which will give you real information. There are still guys as EAMs making good money, but it is highly dependent on the size of the territory. If the annual quota is less than $7M, then under the current comp plan things may be a bit rough if you do not hit your #s. You will make $150-170 in a $7M territory if you do not hit your #. If you hit your #s in a $7M territory, you will make $200-250. Guys with $8M, $9M, $10M+ territories are in the mid to high $200Ks. It has definitely been and will continue to be a struggle for the next 18-24 months until our new platform comes out, but for me personally I enjoy the job enough to stick it out until then. At that time I'll be back making around $300K. Good and bad with Olympus right now. Good luck whatever you decide to pursue.

There are hundreds of reasons to decline, most important would be the corrupt, dishonest and disrespectful leadership throughout the company. You risk your career, your reputation and well-being in this environment.

The products are good, sales people are good, the management is corrupt and will destroy your life, career and finances. If you’d like $170K to $300K there are companies with management teams that can be trusted with careers and that consistently demonstrate treating their people and customers well. In my own experience, Olympus could care less about the customers and this is problematic. They care about their egos, their meritless manager promotions, burning their reps out and covering up bad behavior.

Nobody enjoys working for Olympus. Its downright embarassing to be an employee here.
Don't even think about interviewing here. Its a total dump, and is filled with fake and soulless management.
You will be very sorry if you accept an offer.

There is a lot of disgruntled EAMs out there for sure right now. I have been here for awhile and actually really enjoy it and have done well for the past 3 years. Many of the guys who have been here 10-15 years are having a rough time with the changes and I don't blame them for it, but I am pretty happy. RVPs and AVP in the West are good dudes.
