Empi is no more....

3.5 yrs ago a past Leadership team member told Mike Mogul when he first got hired the EMPI TENS business would not be vial be to support a direct Sales force and Shoreview by 2014. Mike saw that as an Executive that was not a team player instead of an executive that had way more business acumen and understanding of thee business than Mike. With that type of foresight Mike could have strategically redirected the business. Instead his ego (not skills obviously) made him plow forward that he could turn it around.

Mike when the "horse is dead, dismount, do not kick it". Problem is you realized it way to late. This will look good on your resume though!!

Remember when Mogul took over Recovery Sciences was the top producing revenue division at DJO. With Medicare changes in TENS reimbursement this product was going to fade away. Everyone knew that. What should have been done was to transition all these customers to products that would continue to treat the base of business. Never forget sitting at a dinner with Mogul and he told us he was going to grow RS with NMES????? What????? No vision, no idea how to keep all these great referral sources that grew RS to the top revenue producing division on board. Instead he brought in Stryker people who had no clue. So to hear all this BS on how RS was dragging DJO down is pathetic. Blackstone people keep believing this?

From the time Mike Mogul walked into DJO he believed he knew more about our business than the folks that had been around and he proceeded to surround himself with incompetent people who were unable to produce at Striker. Empi did not have a chance under this leadership and way to go Blackstone as you continue to let this moron lead your investment down the drain.

Way to ruin a good thing douche bag.

A sad day for those that have been with Empi for many years.. Announcement today from Q3 2015 financials indicates DJO is done with that division....

It was the conversion from ICD9 to ICD10, effective 10-01-2015, combined with EMPI being way too top heavy with Medicare patients, along with competitive bidding, that spelled the demise of EMPI.

EMPI lost all their ongoing disposable supply business, built up over many years, as of 10-01-2015. The EMPI reps never got paid anything for the supplies.

TENS reimbursement is done. EMSI and Worldwide won't be far behind. A TENS 7000 is $24.99 on Amazon!!!

Hmm. Rumors of the demise of EMSI have clearly been magnified. They are still in the TENS business.

But, just like EMPI, their "consignment" sales model is flawed, as the MD, DPM, DC, or PT can bill for a TENS and get paid $200+ for a device that only cost them $24.99. Nice ROI, eh?
