I have heard a lot of nonsense on this board from all types. As a industry veteran with no ties to Rotech I thought I would try and explain some of the issues holding back your satisfaction from your employment with Rotech. First I will acknowledge that yes Rotech was pitifully run when reimbursement levels were manageable. That is also a contributing factor today as Rotech borrowed a number of times and interest payments from the borrowing of an era gone by are being paid at record levels of low reimbursement.and continuing cuts to hme.
It would take considerable time to go over the many mistakes made by many companies in the industry so I will focus on why it is so terrible right now and has been since 2006. Before I waste any more of my time I will wait for any responses to see if you are actually interested in hearing about why your pay is stuck why you might feel like you work two jobs for the price of one, why you feel you are in a dead end, why the company seems so cheap,etc. Now may I ask ,do you truly enjoy what you do? Are you interested in hearing excuses from a non Rotech manager?
 


I am interested. Please go on. I agree that servicing our enormous debt from the IHS spin off was unsustainable as reimbursement cuts kept raining down on us. I would add that the 2002- 2013 regime did not run an operationally tight ship. We missed the boat. Hopefully the raft we are on now brings us to shore.
 




Millionaires? The days of big companies buying big companies and overpaying are over. If you did not know Apria has been for sale for quite a long while and silence is all you hear. The first thing you must understand is that right now providers like Rotech are being paid ( based on a recent industry study ) at 69 cents for every dollar spent providing the equipment and service. This means that the more patients you start on service the more money you lose. Makes no sense right? This is based on Medicare reimbursement but all insurance follows what Medicare gets away with. I truly believe that companies have no desire to grow the business in a traditional sense and that is one reason why employees might feel neglected. In my part 2 thread I'll go over the history of Medicare reimbursement as well as mistakes the industry made but before I go do a search on " The Medicare Doc fix " and know this. The industry problems are not due to Obama care but come from the Medicare prescription drug law passed in 2003. You might want to read about how that bill was passed into law in the wee hours of the morning and president Bush's executive order for a 36 month cap on oxygen reimbursement. You are correct......the Deficit Reduction Act was passed by Bush and has nothing to do with Obamacare. The Medicare cut backs on reimbursements are killing this industry. Apria is hemoharaging money, and soon Blackstone will cut them lose and they will probably go under. Unless congress gets their act together, and increases the reimbursements, entire healthcare segments are in jeopardy of folding their tents.

Even with the election the industry is pretty much effed over because this or any congress with a republican majority will not spend any more money on what they deem entitlements. One of the biggest issues with the nationals was that they bet on what one poster said " it will be good for the nationals when all of these small companies are forced out ". Its exactly that attitude that destroyed reimbursement. Now every budget year there is the so called Medicare doc fix that I asked you to google. Doctors accepting Medicare have had cuts built into their budgets for a long time but the Docs said hey we will quit accepting Medicare patients at those crappy rates and what does congress do? Docs get a fix on their cuts because they threatened to quit the program of assignment. Do you see where I am going?

This is a lot of nonsense. You were there in the old regime so don't act like it was someone else. That is such a cop out. Just own it. You suck at your job so do us all a favour and just admit it and move on.
