Enough Is Enough AZ!

It appears that Brilinta may not see the light of day. Soon we face generic Lipitor and Zyprexa. AZ U.S. had less than a stellar year. More cost cutting had definitely been scheduled for this year. Then tell me one thing. Why do we keep trying to put ourselves out of business with draconian compliance regs etc.? Also, we are still forced to do programs that have $0 ROI. Soon, we will have "business emphasis" meetings for no apparent reason, that cost us time out of the field and money. We are doing the same things over and over that produce no business whatsoever.

Instead of a hiring freeze, we fill almost every vacancy. This is just insane! Why don't we make an effort to try and save just a little money every now and then?

Morale can't get worse in the field. DM's are becoming more and more psychotic. watch sales drop because of their tactics. Everyone is looking to leave ASAP.

Someone in upper management has got to turn this ship around, and fast. We all know that layoffs are in store in 2012, and there is no need for management to deny it any longer. The Brilinta delay, a pathetic pipeline and poor planning have all but doomed AZ.

1. Possibly Brilinta may never see the light of day. Pdufa date is now July, 20th.
2. Compliance regs are the result of the two CIA's. Nothing can be done about that. They are here to stay.
3. Emphasis meetings? Always had em, always will.
4. Hiring freeze? Might make some sense since patent cliff is coming in '12. Don't understand this either.
5. Morale cannot be worse. Focus survey proves it - agreed, but no one cares.
6. Pipeline? AZ plan is to stay with Rx products instead of diversifying. Problem is, little to nothing is getting approved.

They still have billion dollar drugs that need to be sold. Layoffs at this point would be too much of a distraction. I dont understand the hiring..there should be a freeze

Agree completely. They are all so predictable. Meetings just to role play. Never consider ROI for anything. Ride em' till they drop. No real leadership. SOS, like always. Just be sure to check the box. That's what is really important

Look it works exactly like the Government. Spend all of your budget or lose it. Never give up headcount because the more people you have the more important your worthless job appears. Do you really think Tilton or any of the NSDs are going to admit that they don't need their budgets, meetings, or their headcount? That is a short line to their own jobs being eliminated. They hire highly paid consultants who generate reports to justify a ROI based on falsified calls and phoney market shares. So where would be their motivation to save money? Bottomline, the game goes on with worthless and totally unnecessary PSSs, DSMs, RSDs, ASDs and ultimately NSDs.

You are correct that Tilton, Fante, et al are not going to volunteer to reduce the size of their universe.

It will, however, be forced upon them. AZ's own forecast for 2011 calls for sales to be flat or down slightly, with profits coming in below what was forecast a year ago. Any missteps, like Brilinta not being approved, or approved with a limited label will make this situation worse.

And things get worse in 2012. Generic Lipitor, Seroquel, etc.

So Fante and Tilton will be ending 2011 on down notes. They will be asked how they are going to do better in 2012. They will be limited in what they can do to increase sales, but they can increase their contribution to profit by reducing costs.

And guess what is their number 1 cost? You and me.
