After years and years of speculation on who would do it.... JnJ, Hologic, Boston... Conceptus finally managed to get purchased. It will be interesting to see how it all shakes out and what, if any, impact it has in the people at Conceptus.
 




Bayer will have no interest in keeping anyone in California other than operations and R&D until they are replaced. Med-device reps are over paid as is everyone at Conceptus and Bayer will not want them. They will keep them as long as they need them to figure things out then out you go with a crappy severance even by Pharma standards.

Remember that Bayer is former Nazi company (look it up), when they bought one company they called everyone into a meeting hall and fired them all they then called back a few to work as contractors as long as they needed them.

The really bad part is they messup everything they buy (Cipro, Baycol, Yaz....)
 


Good thing they final sold us. While Bayer is a very bad choice, but at my level we had no influence anyway.

It was all about those on top getting rich. The company got rid of anyone who knew what they were doing and had stock shares so there would be more stock for those at the top when the company was sold. Recently this had left us with a bunch of people who are totally cluesless about how to do their jobs running the place.

Well played Conceptus senior management, you get rich all the rest of the clueless now still at Conceptus will get fired by Bayer.
 


The company and culture will absolutely change dramatically here in the next 3-6 months with this acquisition. It will be painful for most. Management knows this and think they have it all figured out. Reality is people will be jumping and this company will be very different when a ton of talent leaves due to the pharma culture and pay. Sit back and watch the mass exodus. This will be served up as an exciting thing. There will be a lot of people jumping ship. Some people will be forced out also. I'm sure management will spin it however they need to because remember they are salespeople too. We will see turnover of semi-epic proportions. It is not going be pretty.

Are you nuts? Bayer just acquired Conceptus for 1.1B. Do you really think if any of your insane statement was true that this wound have happened? There have been no deaths reported and almost 1 million devices placed. Die off??? This is the most effective and least invasive perminant birth control. Do your homework...

It's already a pharma culture anyway at Conceptus. Most of the managers are typical pharma managers. The "clinical pathway" pulls you from a medrep to a pharma rep by forcing your physicians into office and away from the OR.

Hey crazy pants, it's only going to grow the business like wild fire. Your uneducated opinion will just be smaller and non relevant in months to come.
 


Bottom line, some folk(s) in Operations made out very well. Real well and will be around for at least 12-months (part of the deal). Others did not make out so well but were asked to stay on 12-months in a quite way. And others, no mention if they would be kept or not. Most like kicked out the door and that is how it goes. Then Bayer will decide if they will stay in the new location or move everything to NJ. Most likely to NJ. So for those of you who think you will be around after a year nice dreamin.
 






For the Milpitas site, most likely by June it will not longer be Bayer. Some already know this but have been told to keep quite. If you think Bayer will keep that site, then you are really lost. Here is the deal, if they are reading this, then tell everyone you (Bayer) have no intentions of shutting down the Milpitas location. I figure if we don't hear the news by end of September, then it is true.
