Generic vs. Branded

New Recruit

Will the new generic shut down or hurt sales of Solaraze and Veregen? I had some docs question me and did not know how to respond. How should I respond? Should I get my resume ready?

With Aldara going generic Graceway is likely going to stop promotion which will be a positive thing and allow us to pound the Solaraze message without any counter detailing.

I believe that the generic imiq will hurt sales for other products. If it truely stays on the market and becomes a tier 1 co-pay for alot of folks, it will be hard to sell against. derms rx soloraze for patients that don't want a reaction. MOST derms will rx imiquimod because it truely is a better product and patients clear. Veregen sucks..

I'm worried, both of us compete for the AK biz and the new generic will creep into both of our markets. I will update my resume just in case, but in the meantime I will fight Graceway and the generic tooth and nail.

WHO's with ME????

They aren't going to stop promoting Aldara, it's the only product they have! 25% of their normal Aldara business still blows away what they do with Atopicrap and Benziq so there's no reason for them to stop promoting it. They'll just close shop if they don't get the new product approved soon...

Finally a smart person post on Cafe Pharma. You are right, Aldara as the market leader will take the entire market down with it. Aldara built the market and rightfully it will destroy the market. You have no more than years end before this market is gone! Your little message about Aldara's price and packaging will no longer be effective with Dr., PharmD's at MHC organisations, and other government buyers. Best price wins! You are right Aldara is a superior product to Solorase and Veregen is not even worth mentioning. Post on Healthcare reps.com, careerbuilders.com

Good night and good luck.

Bravo!!

March 8, 2010

Judge Martini of the United States District Court, District of New Jersey denied Graceway's motion for a temporary restraining order against Nycomed for alleged infringement of U.S. Patent No. 7,655,672 that relates to imiquimod cream. The Court denied the motion, refusing to restrain the sale of Nycomed's generic imiquimod cream, on several grounds, stating, inter alia, that "[t]he public has a substantial interest in seeing that litigation like this is not brought again."

On February 23, 2010, Graceway Pharmaceuticals, LLC and 3M Innovative properties Co. had filed an infringement action against Nycomed U.S. Inc., Perrigo Company, and Perrigo Israel Pharmaceuticals Ltd. alleging patent infringement. Perrigo did not take part in these preliminary proceedings. Graceway's patent does not cover Graceway's own imiquimod cream product, Aldara, which is the largest selling topical preparation in the United States. The Court found that Graceway had delayed in seeking relief and had not shown that Nycomed's validity challenge lacked substantial merit. The Court also found that the balance of hardships and public interests favored Nycomed.

The Kramer Levin team that represented Nycomed included Intellectual Partners Donald L. Rhoads and Christopher A. Colvin, special counsel Albert B. Chen, and associates Marcus A. Colucci, Benu Mehra, Mary W. Richardson, Geoffrey G. Hu and Jean-Paul Ciardullo.

We don't know, but answer this question Mr. Hooha. Have the Solaraze prescriptions gone down since Generic 5FU? No!

It should also be said that Solaraze is the only AK topical(Imiq 5FU) that does not have a generic. Carac IS a 5 FU and is often replaced at the pharmacy. It should also be said that Jessica Alba is HOT!

Solaraze scripts have not gone down since the generic 5FU was released, but they sure as hell did not go up either. We have the lowest Market share out of all the products. We are not even beating Carac and that has a generic crushing them. I just think us having a generic aldara will harm us more than help. Don't get me wrong I will still sell it as if my job depends on it.

Look, Solaraze is written because of the perception it isn't as irritating as the others. Its efficacy is for crap. If they were that confident in Solaraze they wouldn't have priced generic Aldara at $599 retail price for a 24pk. What r they thinking?
Hell, if Aldara was getting that kind of coin then why cant we get in on it. THIS is what has the docs a bit upset. A generic that is priced as high as the brand.
Pricing it that high is NOT helping the patients cause which is supposedly what generics do. What pharmacy plan will accept it at that price? The WAC is a little over $500. Medicare will get the generic for what price? Not helping the senior with the generic either.
It's all greed people. Corporate greed.
Getting while you can before the next generic comes from Perrigo. Did you know that's coming real soon?
Veregen, Oxistat, Solaraze n Cutivate which if it wasn't on medicaid would be a dinosaur by now also) will not float this boat very long.
Start preparing while you HAVE a job. It's must less stressful.
