GSK position

This isn't a pharma job. I don't know what to call it. A giant clusterf*** is the first thing that comes to mind. You need no talent to do what they are asking us to do and premium talent would never stay here.

I also applied for a GSK asthma role. I have 10 yrs experience in pharma; <4yrs in sales. The ad asked for <4 yrs. Got an automated email from HR within a week saying that there are more qualified applicants than myself!!!

Don't feel bad.....consider yourself lucky. Gsk Does not measure success by sales only on your ability to take test, do well on cots and that sums it up for you. Even though you maybe top in sales don't expect accolades. You had better be a a really good test taker or cheater because that is your key to success now with GSK.

With 99.9% of GSK reps with >4 yrs. no current employees would be worthy of a job at GSK.That's nice.

If you have a sales position in pharma now they won't hire you. Only military or other outside sales. If you are currently employed I would skip GSK, not a positive environment to work in.
Good Luck.

If you work too long at GSK it will effect your ability to compete for any other pharma or sales job. To be a competitive candidate, you need to be able to produce sales numbers, rankings, sales awards etc. The Patient First Model does not allow for anything like that, so it will turn you into an "untouchable." You could be a great rep, you could be terrible....there is no way for a hiring manager to tell either way...that is the danger of GSK.

Pharma is NOT sales..hasn't been for over 30 years..We are Detail Men...show up , mention product name, indications, dosing, side effects (well not really loudly on that one)..and be sure to mention FORMULARY acceptance!!! (doc may have to fill out a form, fax it in - if they can still find a working fax machine, emails not accepted, have pt mail in copy of Rx and drug store receipt and get reimbursed within 8-10 weeks making it affordable to everyone!)... it's not a hard job. gee not every doc wants to see you (try making a 150 telephone cold calls and see how you like that in 'real' sales), easy work environment, good hours..what's not too like? Oh, pays not bad and you get some bonus (nobody knows how that works, but hey its a bonus!)
