Help with CPT Codes

Hello everyone,

I am looking for help on the best way to change CPT codes inside the hospital (not the cpt codes that are used for billing insurance companies). For example Dr. X orders an EIA microbiology test, the nurse goes into the computer system and clicks on the hospital code for the EIA microbiology test. Now the hospital has decided to convert to a brand new test for the same previous procedure only the new test is now a molecular microbiology test.

What have you found as the best way to work with the Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) to get the internal code changed quickly and efficiently in order to prevent the clinician from ordering the old test?

Thank you!

Who are you?

Why are you asking this question on general discussion?
