How long does it take...

to get a phone interview with Dentsply. I applied last week and passed their assessment and was wondering. Very interested in the opportunity, but starting to get discouraged. Thanks.

Did you get an email that said you met their basic hiring requirements?

Thousands of people get the auto generated email that you have completed basic requirements and have taken assessment. It is meaningless. This is quite a process for a shit paying 60K job. The process is horrible and not worth it. If you are unemployed I understand but if you are coming from experience this is a step back. Lots of ex laid off pharma reps applying for these jobs but they are all very disappointed when they find out what this truly is....you have been warned. I would not expect a call or interview if you have exp. and make over 50K currently.

It takes Dentsply a lifetime to make a decision on a candidate. But a blink of an eye to fire them. The Top grading process they use takes forever and hasn't landed one candidate they thought was worth keeping once the honeymoon was over. Dentsply doesn't even look good on your resume any more. The people with the longest tenure are in HR. Look elsewhere.

How long does it take to hear something after you do the assessment?
What is usually the next step?

The next step is realizing you made a huge mistake by going thru the HR process, or worse, accepted what will turn out to be a miserable job. Dentsply is not a respected name to have on your resume. Don't waste your time!

When you get into compensation discussion do your homework on earning potential. Not much earning potential available. Just giving you a heads up. I wish someone told me that years ago.

Seriously look elsewhere. You will be forced to sign a non-compete, which screws you on anything in the dental industry for two years regardless if you leave or are fired. The dental industry is great, but DENTSPLY is not. High turnover, out of date technology, back order issues, income, bonus structure, low morale, etc. Just to name a few reasons you would be smart to explore other companies.

Good companies take time to hire the right candidates. I am a tenured rep with Tulsa, 7 years and I can tell you that we get a lot of candidates. I have helped out with the hiring process as part of my development. My mgr has told me that we get about 100+ candidates for every position. So, there are 3-4 pre-screens by HR before the mgr even gets top candidates. Then, we go through a rigorous phone screen process, which I have helped with in my region. After that, there are usually 2-3 F2F interviews and a ride along to make sure the candidate gets a view of the job.

Dentsply is a great company and been good for me. I have been promoted 3 times in seven years, making 120-130K and they care about my career development. If you perform, work hard and take care of your business, Dentsply is loyal to you and will develop you.

"I am a tenured rep with Tulsa"

This is absolutely the most stupid statement ever on CafePharma.

A fucking moron must have writtten this.

Tenured. In the dental business.

Idiot.

Agreed, you are a Tulsa rep, you are required to do telemarketing. If dental had a worse option than pharma it would be Tulsa. If you are past the entry-level phase of you career and working at Tulsa you missed the bus.

Seriously do your research. This company has an extremely high turnover rate, very low morale, and leadership is disfunctional. Distributors will tell you that they see new Dentsply reps every two years on average, and this is why the dealer partnership is strained. Be smart about taking a job with this company. Within 6 months you will have major regrets. Trying to be honest with you.
