How much $ can be made at Arthrex

Realistically, how much can I make at Arthrex? Team 1 Ortho in GA/FLA looking to bring on new rep. They have almost all (90%) of the sports business, they also have the Skeletal Dynamics distal radius plate they are selling as well as several surgeons using their reverse shoulder system. I have confirmed all of this with other reps, surgeons, etc. They already have 6-7 other reps now (1-2 of those reps are senior reps) and a guy that runs everything named Fretterman, so I’m sure he’s getting a big chunk of sales. From what I’ve seen in the OR these guys are nothing more than box openers; there aren’t too many “oh crap” moments in sports medicine cases so I can’t imagine the pay being that great for guys essentially opening boxes. Just wondering, once a rep gets to a Senior level sales rep position what the most he/she could make? I haven’t actually spoken with them yet but I was made aware of the position and told I should reach out. I currently sell OR supplies. Thx for any info/insight.

they typically keep their reps managing 750K of business each. 8% of that is 60K. There may be a little bonus end of year if you manage to hit every category number.

Associate starts at mid 40s
Reps at 60
Managers may see 6 figures

Not a bad place to start but much better money elsewhere. Hope this helps.

I've been with arthrex for 8 years I made 200k last year (I'm a senior rep)...territory manager made 350k. We have 5 reps below us making 50k-100k each. Money is there just have to find the right area

They are the most “direct” indirect reps in the business.

They are told when they can pee by RS.

and when to eat, what to wear ect ect. Get caught with a sideline as independent and see what happens. Arthrex is weat most pharma bro’s get hired and hang. It’s the “foot in the door” company for the beginning of your Resume. Huge red flag to see a rep go to arthrex after being anywhere else.

1000% accurate. Good place to begin your med device career. That’s about it.

I agree with last post. Great for getting your foot in the door however you won’t make the kind of money you think you can for one simple reason. Arthrex sells itself, they already have the brand recognition and superb training as well as marketing. If you were lucky enough to join a distributor in the early 2000’s when the company was looking to grow and expand you made some nice commissions and incentives. Arthrex like any company was looking to grow and increase market share at such a rapid pace that they were incentivizing you to do so. As they grew they become more corporate and soon took over the sports medicine world and solidified their spot as the number #1 orthopedic technology company. Now there is no need to pay the reps the large incentives or commissions cause the product sells itself. The guys who were there in the early days have got theirs deals in place or have moved up to manager positions and don’t really go into the OR as much. If you sell sports medicine for Arthrex you pretty much are a box opener in the OR these days. All fellowship trained orthopedic surgeons are trained on Arthrex and use it for the most part. The distal extremities is where you may see a little more money cause they are still fighting for market share with those particular products. Distal extremities or Dex as they call it has legit challenges from the likes of Stryker, Wright Medical, Integra, Biomet, Synthes. Those companies are major players in Dex so Arthrex is incentivizing their Dex reps more so than sports medicine reps. With all that said Arthrex sells itself and most of the reps are simply there to open boxes, make sure trays are in the room and the surgeons have everything they need. So Arthrex knows this and that’s why they don’t pay their reps like they used to. Arthrex corporate does a phenomenal job with all their trainings, fellowship programs, labs, lectures that they don’t need reps like they used to. They have market share now they just need to maintain. Bottom line get trained here and move on to get paid cause the hours and the people here all drink the cool aid and it becomes cult like to work here.
