How was the launch?

With their announcement tonight in Pancreatic Cancer and their pipeline, they have to be on the Roche radar for a hefty premium. This stocks runs into 20 and beyond in a short period. Load up the truck. Who knows, maybe Celgene will jump into the fray.

payers don't want to pay for it. Who's in charge?

Not sure what is going here. They have an opening here in California, not sure if the employee was canned or left on their own. Very odd that openings are happening within 6 months of launch, that does not seem like a good sign. I would be very cautious about applying.

Nurses can support sales but are not the only people to hire BAD MOVE

Looking at the Miami opening. I was told base pay is 175-200K, corporate bonus of 35-50K. Looking at a guarantee of 210-250K. This has to be the highest pay for an entry level rep job in the Biotech industry. I bring a lot of sales skills to the table. Marketing degree. This position seems to have started out focused on people with medical backgrounds. Will that be a problem not having a medical background? Most reps do not have a medical background.

Serious responses only.

You can make all the money you want. I left this circus. Many of the partners are disappointed. I have a couple of thoughts for you.

You better have in writing that the corporate bonus is a 100% slam dunk. You might be in for a rude awakening.

What is your mission and values? I felt sorry for my former coworkers from another part of the country that had to attend a meeting in Phoenix. They were threatened by one manger with "Butt-Chugging" while the other manager laughed. Sticking an alcohol laced enema up the asshole of an employee, pretty funny. How do these people still have jobs? I can tell you that at Lilly, Pfizer, Merck, BMS and others, these clowns would have been terminated immediately. Just a reflection of the values of the leadership. No wonder the Pharmaceutical Industry has the reputation that the industry has.

I was looking at a job with this company as well. Just beware, this company is burning cash in a serious fashion, to the point they may be insolvent in a year. My advice would be to not accept an offer of anything less than a 200K base since this may be a band aid solution and you could be looking for a job a year from now. I wonder what the reps at this company are thinking about right now. It seems like they are filling original positions which is not good less than a year into hiring, if people are leaving already. Did they have a booth at ASCO?

Just so sad to see everyone leaving here at corporate. Desks being cleaned out weekly. I know that everyone is worried about the sales being so bad. I wish our partners would get it turned around. I have no idea where things are going. Lots of stress.

??????what?????

The panic over the poor product sales. Yes, we need to feel sorry for the partners, for not going to work. Everyone is getting sick hearing about the access excuse. Now we are going to spend another million dollars to add 5 more partners to deliver pizza at lunch and coffee and donuts to their nursing friends at breakfast. Nice spend Tad and Sarah.

Yes, just we need, more caterers and fewer scientists.

Sounds like some internal folks do not understand the value of the Partners. We are very well trained and well respected in the Oncology Field. Yes, some weeks we work 4 days, some weeks 2-3 days and other weeks we are home the whole week studying. Sarah and Tad know this and are comfortable with it. Many of us are nurses, so some may work 2-3 days at Merrimack during the week and work a weekend shift to keep our nursing skills up to date. Yes, we get paid 150-160K for our skills. We educate physicians and nurses on Pancreatic Cancer and Onivyde. We avoid the yucky sales rep label. Sales is such a horrible way to make a living. The nice part of the job is not being dependent on making a sale. We are so much more professional than a sales rep.

I would suggest you go to a great nursing school and get a nursing degree, some experience in Oncology and not be negative towards the partners and become a partner. Being a partner is a great job with full time pay for part time work. Again, Sarah and Tad know this, and hired us for our highly sought after skill level. All the partners love their job. Join us!!

Face it - If Merrimack would have hired a traditional experienced Oncology sales force with launch experience, the drug would probably be doing better. Onc Nurses are great but that doesn't make them effective in a competitive selling atmosphere.

If Sarah and Tad are comfortable having Partners staying home for a week at a time while sales are in collapse, then Sarah and Tad need to be fired. Pretty simple.
