iF THE SHAREHOLDERS ONLY KNEW WHAT WAS GOING ON IN THE FIELD AT J&J

All the j&j biotech and pharma reps and managers are ripping off the company. They are using the company credit cards under false pretenses and are criminally getting thousands of dollars in catered food, office supplies, gifts, expensive dinners, parking garages, postage, etc paid for their personal use and their families. When will this blatant criminal activity end? Knowing what is really going on in the field makes me furious. With all the consultants J&J pays millions for the company has absolutely no clue that the reps and managers are in cahoots and are not even leaving their houses to to go to work and instead are illegally charging millions of dollars on the corporate card and getting reimbursed. Yet J&J only rewards these crooks and criminals with job stability, pay raises, and larger expense accounts to steal from. Things will be exposed very soon to the public if J&J doesn't wake up and look after the sharholder's investments in the company and begin cutting costs appropriately. I'm sick of the money wasted and stolen in the field and know if reps and managers are finally not held accountable for not working and stealing from the company that the truth will be exposed pubicly and J&J will suffer the consequences of mismanaging their shareholders funds. Only the people who work in this industry know of the true criminal activity going on with the J&J employees. All will be exposed if J&J doesn't clean up it's employees and get rid of the lazy criminal reps and managers.

I don't work in pharma or biotech, but your entire post doesn't make any sense. How do you use a credit card to falsify a parking receipt? Plus, you obviously don't know about how educational meals are expensed or the rules reps have to follow. Nothing that you are writing is possible.

You're crazy. You don't know anything about the scrutiny reps and DM's are under in regard to expense reports. JOB STABILITY? You are not an insider please get off this site.

I know all too well having had been in the field for years. Reps befriend the owners of restaurants, establishments, parking garages, you name it and have them write up overinflated receipts and charge it. It works best if it is cash but it can be done no problem with credit cards too. The rep sometimes gives the business owner a cut or a tip so it's worth their while to help the rep out and the rep expenses the receipt and keeps the excess as profit. The reps have the business owners charge a large receipt which they expense and get reimbursed for on their expense report and then the business owner voids the receipt; this was done for years before the expense reports went on-line with every entry. Many reps in metropolitan areas charge and expense monthly parking garages and don't use it themselves and instead park on the street. They then sell the parking space to a friend or family member for a deal and keep the money. And everyone knows that the reps order expensive catered foods for their families and friends and expense it as a physician "in-service", making up and forging the sign-in sheets. The company is too stupid to call the office to verify whether the rep was actually there or brought food in, so the reps have been getting away with this for years. The possiblilities are endless but I do agree the corruption has gotten a little tougher with the on-line corporate amex expense report system these past few years. But there are a milllion ways to skin a cat and the crafty reps and managers are still getting away with murder in the field.

And you're defending your corrupt and criminal peers in the field who are still stealing millions of dollars from the company. The public needs to know what's really going on in this industry and what the reps and managers are getting away with. When I worked in the field every fall my manager would have his favorite pet reps begin making weekly deposits at fancy restaurants and specialty gift shops around noon and expense these receipts as phony physician programs or lunches. And make up and forge sign-in sheets to go along with the receipt which was always approved by the manager. Before you know it, thousands of dollars had been accrued for an amazing expensive district holiday party for the reps with top-label booze flowing all night long. And each rep would also receive an expensive gift basket as a present from the manager. Mind you, this wasn't and isn't just done at the holidays but is done all year round. Reps also lie about tips that they give the delivery people who cater their lunches. They actually include the delivery tip in the amex receipt, but the reps list that they provided a cash tip instead and expense and pocket an extra $20 to $50 dollars for each lunch and believe me that adds up through the weeks. The company has no idea what's included in the amex luncheon recept because it is not itemized, so they reimburse the rep for whatever the receipts and tips amount to. As if the j&j reps and managers don't get enough free perks with really high salaries & commissions, across the board raises mid-year, sales incentives and contests, annual stock, 401k match, amazing benefits during this recession in the industry, all-expense paid company car, free meals all day while they're working and which they fraudulently expense as customer programs and use for their personal use, all transportation expenses to and from work 100% paid for, free office and postage supplies that they expense and hoard for their personal use, etc etc etc. I'm so sorry for you reppies that the rules have gotten a little tighter and the highway robbery in the field is not as easy as it used to be, but it is still going on by these greedy criminals in the field. The public needs to know about the corruption going on at the jnj pharma and biotech divisions, particularly at this time when the other divisions are getting exposed for their illegal activities. If jnj was only smart enough to call the doctors offices and verify if the reps were actually there that date and provided food, I bet over 95% of the reps would immediately be fired for making up calls and stealing money from the company of their expenses. The managers and reps have worked together many years and cover for each other. The managers are even guiltier than the reps because the reps learn how to steal on their expenses and fake their calls from their managers. The reps and manager are never held accountable and instead pad their bank accounts with stolen jnj money from expense reports. There is so much corruption going on at jnj and it will be exposed very soon.

Not all reps are crooks. I live with integrity and I'm a J&J Field Rep. People in all walks of life take advantage of systems. But not all people and not all systems. You are throwing darts up into the air here.

I'm not the original poster and you are dead wrong. You can use your cedit card for parking. Perhaps you would go out for dinner, use the company card to pay for the parking and wha-la! So before you open your mouth asshole...it is possible!

The rep can still have the catered lunch and do this. They can have the caterer add $100 on to the bill...and cash it out or give you a gift certificate for your family. If pharma allows you to spend up to $50 for lunch...you would still have enough name and are able to add the cash on. It's not rocket science. I have never done this...it's not worth it and also a moral issue BUT to think it can't be done. It could very easily be done and if you cover your tracks well you would NEVER get caught!

to the OP (who obviously has a thorn up his a**): with all your long winded BS, you claim everybody did it including you and your managers in cahoots, and you claim you're so appaled by it, and YOU NEVER BLEW THE WHISTLE OR EVEN CALLED HR? I call BULLSHIT. Maybe you're on a guilt trip trying to drag everyone else down to your level.

Everyone knows what goes on in this industry. The reps and managers are not working and stealing from the company wherever they can get away with it. The job of a pharmaceutical sales rep is a joke in the real world and needs to be exposed to the public for what it really is. There is no access in the physicians offices or hospitals and the reps and managers make up their calls to look as though they are working and are instead wasting the company's money for their own selfish advantages. As if they didn't make enough money for what little they actually accomplish on a daily basis. It is all about manipulating the data so it looks like you are actually selling product when the truth is you have absolutely nothing to do with the success of the sales. I don't blame you for wanting to protect your goldmine of a job but the reality is that you are paid too well for doing absolutely nothing and it's going to end. It is insane for jnj to let the reps and managers steal money and resources from the company and reward them so handsomely for it in this economy.
You will not be making the big bucks anymore in this industry so get used to the idea of actually working and making less money because that is the real world, you over-compensated worthless lazy self-important putz.

SPOT ON BUDDY!

I don't see how this is specific to sales reps. Anyone who has a company credit card or expense account can do stupid things like those described. I choose to be honest. Anyone, in the field or other employee, caught stealing or defrauding the company should be terminated immediately. I am a 28 year career sales employee.

Been with the company for years. Never heard anyone doing this. You must know some real assholes and must be an asshole yourself.

This stuff is going on at all pharma and biotech companies. That's why the companies are slowly now implementing stricter protocols in place to catch people and fire them before everything becomes public. Everyone knows what the job of a pharmaceutical/biotech sales rep entails and it's all smoke and mirrors. Anyone who steals time or money from a company deserves to lose his/her job. There's no rationalization for all the overpaid, overpriced sales reps in the field doing nothing worthwhile. It's why the industry is downsizing so much. The reps who have posted opposition views are just trying to cover up for their colleagues and themselves. The shareholders who do not work for jnj deserve to know how corrupt the reps and managers who market their products to the customers are.

If you fired all the reps and managers then sales would tank. if a territory is vacant for any period of time then sales tank and thats why they overlook certain things reps do in the field. make your number and you are left alone.

Sounds like someone got canned and is a little resentful. Jnj is a fabulous company and the OP is just fishing to see if it will stick. Go somewhere else because we are not looking to publish inaccuracies. If you are bitter and the stories you are talking about are outlandish then try to see what sticks on another board or company. There are always a few than make the whole look bad and it sounds like you were a gem in that category. I will pray for you.

Nope, sorry but I'm still with jnj after having had spent years in the field so I know exactly what I am talking about. The reps and managers are stealing time, resources, and money from the company. At the company meetings I hear about all their escapades and I am shocked that this is still going on. Apparently health care compliance, hipaa and pharma rules, and jnj policies and procedures only apply to those reps they want to get rid of and no one else. I have lost respect for the people in the field because they are truly not working and are not deserving of the high salaries and comprehensive packages they are receiving from jnj. Jnj is getting ripped off blind and it is important for the shareholder to know what is going on in the field. Things need to change and it is obvious that the consultants used are being fooled because the appropriate measures and changes are not enforced to make the field sales more accountable, productive, and worthy of meeting jnj standards. I no longer have faith in the company I work for due to all the corruption that I have witnessed and it troubles me. I would like to see things handled differently and have the right to express my concerns and outrage over what is going on at jnj. Jnj is in a downward spiral with the calibre of reps and managers as the face of the company in the field. People need to know what's going on in the operating companies.

if no one is working in the field as you say then how do you explain the 60 plus billion in sales that jnj brings home every year? products don't sell themselves.

It would do you well to remember that field personnel are the ones putting food in your bitter little mouth.
