Interesting comment....

I found this comment on one of the Yahoo company board for TherRx, and found it to be a rather interesting take on TherRx's pricing issues with Makena:

"The shame is that the price of Makena interfered with its use by patients that truly needed the product. In this respect, premature infants did not survive when they could have if their mothers were treated with Makena. Access to Makena was denied or made cumbersome because the 3rd party payers (insurance companies and government agencies) balked at the outrageous price of Makena. The cause of unintended fetal death will hang over the heads of KV/TherRx executives for the rest of their lives....and if you believe in a higher authority, will be dealt with accordingly"

I get it, now. It was difficult to understand why the doctors and March of Dimes were so upset with the TherRx pricing of Makena, and still are. The unjustified price actually kept some mothers from getting access to the FDA approved drug and were left with the choice between the compounded drug or no treatment. Those that were forced into a "no treatment" decision no doubt lost more infants than those that were treated.... all because of an unjustified pricing decision by KV/TherRx executives.

Weak people revenge, strong people forgive? Only a lying cheater would post that comment. Must be seeking approval for for your behavior? Revenge is so sweet and I am so strong!

Posts like that quoted above are the kind of fodder that lawyers just love to discover. I wonder how many premature infants died because of "no treatment" due to the unjustified price of Makena?

Cry me a river. Give it a rest as no premature infants died because of the price of Makena they simply got the compounded version and the baby is fine all thanks to the citizens working and paying taxes. The infants you are so worried about promptly went on welfare with their baby's mama and the rest of the litter. Get to work and start selling you whiny loser.

What an ass would make such comments... truly hope it's not from TherRx management, although it would not surprise me.

The scare tactics used by KV/TherRx to scare patients and practitioners did have some effect in keeping some patients from using the compounded versions of Makena.... some of those patients could not get access to Makena because their insurance would not cover the branded Makena or the required co-pay was too high, or, as in the case of some Medicaid patients, their State would not pay for Makena. The result was the patient was left without treatment to prevent premature delivery and some (most?) of those premies that were delivered very early could not survive. Your comment that no premature infants died as a result of the price of Makena IS JUST NOT TRUE!

It is especially the Medicaid patient, the indigent patient, that is most likely to have not had access to Makena because of price. To make matters worse the smear campaign that KV/TherRx did regarding the quality of compounded 17P scared off many patients and clinicians that could have used the compounded version since almost all of the State Medicaid programs would have covered the compounded version. The result is that many of these Medicaid women lost their premature infants due to lack of proper treatment caused by the pricing issues of Makena and KV/TherRx scare tactics.

If you ever wondered why the OB/GYns harbor such resentment towards KV/TherRx, re-read the above paragraphs.

And to you dear poster: I can only hope that you never experience financial or health hardship. Your compassion for fellow humans seems to be missing. And, if you are a part of the management of KV/TherRx I hope that you can live with the knowledge of the emotional pain and suffering dealing with premature birth that was, and is, caused by the predatory pricing of Makena and the company attempts to keep the compounded versions from being used.

Karma has a way of coming back and biting you in the ass. I really believe that those executives that were responsible for the predatory pricing of Makena, and the efforts to stop the use of compounded versions of Makena, will ultimately pay a price.

My goodness get a new message. And next you will say that KV needs to get their reputation fixed. We know already. Didn't you already quit your job here.

Given the focus that management has on things like suing FDA, suing Medicaid agencies, filing FTC petitions, and trying to smear the reputations of compounding pharmacies, don't you think that such time and effort should be spent on improving the reputation of the company?? Seems to me that the company has done very little to try to improve its relationship with the docs, ACOG, MOD, and other important groups that have the ability to help the company survive.

Your comment has to be from a company executive (Greg, Scott, ?) that is just so blind sighted so as to not see the major obstacles to KV success. Shame really, because Makena is a needed FDA approved drug that most OB/Gyns won't prescribe because of KV's history and reputation.

You have to be in the field to appreciate the depth of the poor reputation that TherRx and KV have, especially with the Ob/Gynecology groups. There are some practitioners that won't even have a face-to-face with a TherRx rep, it's that bad. You would think that TherRx management would appreciate that a major job in reputation mending needs to be done with the highest priority.... but alas, they seem to be focused on screwing 3rd party payers like the Medicaid agencies and insurance companies with their outrageous pricing of Makena. You'd think they would try to strike a reasonable price for Makena that the 3rd parties, practitioners, and patients could live with, and try to co-exist with the compounders (Makena is the only FDA approved product for forestalling preterm birth, and that is a powerful competitive advantage over the compounded versions, but not very compelling if the compounded version is about $20 and Makena is $390 per injection).

Management needs to realize that the predatory pricing of Makena continues to impair the reputation of TherRx, and all the other goofy actions that KV/TherRx are doing to try to promote Makena over the compounded versions (like suing the FDA, trying to stop the importation of the raw drug, smearing the reputation of compounding pharmacies, etc.) are actually making matters worse. A good starting point, in my opinion, is to lower the price of Makena to somewhere between $100-$200 per injection (a reasonable premium over the compounded versions for FDA approved product), followed by some sincere contriteness regarding the marketing errors made by KV/TherRx in the past.

I heard but can't confirm that Divis told my manager our old bosses are back in town to take back the company? They will retain him but reorganize the sales force? Is this another rumor or what? I don't know why they would keep Divis or why Divis would share info with my manager but they do seem tight.
