Is the base really only 150k?

Very good point. Unless you don't have a job, the days of taking a risk of a drug potentially being approved is crazy. So many people have been burned after leaving decent jobs to take a risk like that. The money should be high to do that and definitely should include a high sign-on bonus in the event it doesn't get approved. A three month severance is nothing. Bases should be close to 200k.

How large are these territories?

Agreed. You're not going to secure best talent that is for sure. For those that proceed, best of luck but I personally decided to take a pass on this one. Approval seems very shaky.

Honestly, I think this will be a very high-risk opportunity. The way things have been going with the FDA and the fact they didn't get accelerated approval possibly could be a bad sign. For those that haven't done startup before, there are pros and cons but you need to be sure to make one potential outcome no approval. They may provide 3 months severance, but in this day and age, that is not enough to find a great job. With rising gas prices etc., the car allowance should be extremely generous.

Agreed about the high risk. If you have been laid off then yes, go for it. If not, think twice. Start-ups are not like they used to be. Back in the day, it was great because they would give large sign-on bonus, true uncapped potential for bonus, and high bases. Those days are gone. The recruiter told me it was uncapped, but everyone says that. I would at least be a little weary if you decide to go for it. Leaving the larger companies with better benefits to a start-p with something that hasn't been approved isn't a gamble I am willing to take anymore. I thought about it for a hot 60 seconds until I started reading the data.

The territories are small which is scary for Rare Disease (CA - 7 reps, NY - 5 reps, TX - 5 reps). There are MANY reps out there looking for jobs with 10+ years of experience. AZ laid off their entire Renal Division in January 2022 plus several reps left after ZS Pharma was purchased by AZ.
