Just hired and then fired!!! Class action lawsuit?

I left a good job to join valeant less than eight weeks ago and now I have four weeks of pay to find another job in this crappy market. This is not what I signed up for. How can they treat people like this. I was told by my manager and rd, this was a growing company and a bright future, what a bunch of lies.

How can they sleep at night?

I have a family with kids and now what am I suppose to do...

Anyone want to go for a class action lawsuit?

Good luck! Dont you remember you signed a bunch of stuff when you first signed up? Did you read it? It states that Valeant has the right to terminate your employment agreement at any time. And depending on what state you live in, the company may have more power than you in a employment issue.

There is no doubt it sucks and shouldn't have been done, but they did it. At least you have some severance to work with, start pumping those recruiters!!!

But the Valeant management team said this was the place to be long term. That they were growing the business and this is the best time to get in - ground floor. Bunch of crap is what they sold us all...

4 week severance is nothing, while they make millions. Fair treatment alright...

My father is a employment lawyer and in his opinon, we may have a unfair termination act and bad faith case. The last case was the Novartis one, the reps all got about $120k each. It took time, but all they had to do was sign over their case to one lawfirm...

With all the bad press Valeant would get, this could end in a quick settlement... How does $100k to $120k sound to you all?

I just got back from maternity leave, I have a newborn son and now ONLY 4 weeks of pay. I cried all weekend, what am I suppose to do.

Sign me up, I have nothing to loose.

Guess what. You are screwed. For instance, NJ is an at will hire and at will fire state. Can hire or fire for any reason. No severance is required by law. I would try a class action suit, odds are against you though.

I feel bad for the people who actually LEFT jobs to come here. Hard to believe that just 8 months ago in San Antonio we were all being told how important we were to the future of this company.

Do we have to pay for this or is this free to us and if we win the lawers get a slice?

It depends but in a case like this, it would be a lawyer that would get a cut of the settlement. Might be able to set it up that Valeant has to pay our laywers! How great would that be...

So we would have nothing to loose and about $100k to gain... Anyone interested... I can do some research and call around...

Sign my ass up! Would love to screw them over just like they did us. Been in the industry a long time, had great numbers and have never been laid off, I'm ready to kick butt.

I was told by MP how invaluble my group was to the company. Was told we had nothing to worry about. Stood in the ante room in Madison and shook hands with MP on a new deal going forward.

1 week later my group was axed.

Welcome to Valeant, MP and fat robby.

He did exactly the same thing in Europe - came to the UK, said "you guys are great and there is no need to worry", went back to the States and then - by phone - said "I'm selling you." He did and many lost jobs - some people still not working 4 years on.

4 years? They must have been really good? They need to fire the rest of the terrible reps to make way for Medicis.
