From my personal experience as an EWhat is the skinny on this position?
Thanks so much!!! I really appreciate the honest answer. Even a territory like Boston will be huge? I am a DCS and in a rural territory with a 2 hour radius. Guess a little bit used to dealing with long days :-(. Are they receptive to DCS's transferring to an EDCS position? I know there probably will be an interviewing process..............thanks so much for your honest feedback once again!
Not sure how large that territory will be. Contact the current EDCS in that area for advice. They are receptive to a DCS transfer. Good luck!
Who left?
From my personal experience as an E
Ups
1. More involvement with doctors and staff, they actually want to see you.
2. Greater depth on calls, they want the science, not the glossy material.
3. Managers seem to be more relaxed with us.
Downs
1. Huge territories - expect overnights and days of 6 hours in the car.
2. Bigger goals, most of us don't hit goals, the days of getting 115% attainment just don't happen.
3. You get blamed for everything. If DCS's don't make target, its your fault. If they do great, you have nothing to do with it.
Go for it, it's a great job.
The above post is clearly not familiar with the open position.
It's a very small territory that would require you to work about 20% of the time. The environment is relatively restrictive in terms of how much time they will allow reps in. If you are in a decent territory now, stay where you are. The company is going to wiseup to the fact that this is a part time position for 1 rep, forget about 2. The rep that left saw the writing on the wall. It's a matter of time until both positions are absorbed into other territories.
Which Mass E position are you specifically talking about? There are 2 currently open. 1 has been open for a few months, 1 just recent.

100% right. Of course you could say that about any metro territory. 2 1/2 DCS's covering a part of Boston/NY/Philly etc? What do they do all day? I had a metro territory before I got "promoted" to an EDCS position - I miss the free time. I'm now 3/4 time instead of 1/2 time - it's tough.
If this company hasn't woken up to the fact that most reps are part time, they're not going to.
