Open positions?

I see your company has two openings in Florida. Can anyone tell me what the salary is and how the District Manager is to work with? I don't have it all bad at my company but worried because there is going to be a layoff.

I would not say the bonus plan is all that great as compared to other companies. The goals are
set with no rhyme or reason..except if you do well you will get screwed two quarters later. Territories with consistent growth (albeit small), large market shares and large volume do not make great bonuses. They do not consider changes in MC market when setting goals and the company has lost a lot of Medicaid coverage on key products.

Benefits are better than average however do not expect more than two weeks vacation when you start regardless of your experience. Cars are better than most. Most managers are good and so is mid level management.

Worked at 3 other pharma companies and aptalis is by far the best I've worked for. Reps have been bottom 10% for years and still aren't worried about losing their jobs. Therefore I would consider it a fairly safe place to work. They also don't check your calls or care about your numbers, so that's surely worth getting paid a little less. Great managers, and great mid level managers. CEO is clueless, but hey, makes my life easier having a CEO that's clueless and dumb. Cars are much better than the industry average. Reps are all nice and not pompous and arrogant like most of the industry. overall, not the best paying, but if you want to work you have an opportunity to get a decent bonus every quarter. If you don't want to work you'll have more free time and get paid your base salary. It's totally up to you! Overall, good company to work for if you like working as little as possible. Downfall is, the reps that do work hard don't ever get promoted. Absolutely zero chance of ever becoming anything other than a rep. Which explains why the good reps leave after a few years. That's my unbiased opinion of aptalis.

You have only part of it right. Caution in that they ARE going to be checking calls and call activity is red flagged. Make up a call and you will be terminated immediately if caught. Just ask the last several "voluntary" resignations. Really not worth it!

Everything else is totally true! Especially the CEO. Also I do not agree that there is no place to go. For a small pharma company almost half of the Regionals have come from within. Pretty good for only having 10. Also training, MC and trade have all had people come from the field. There are some reps that have been out there but they have chosen to keep their rep positions.

You evidently don't know who that manager is. He is the most obnoxious manager of the group. He should be fired for harrassing his reps but must have something on someone in the company to still be employed. He claims he was a manager at Takeda but no one knows of him.

This contract SUCKS BAD!!!!!!!!!!!!

Alot of open territories ........looking at your company...why? What's up??[/

The company is adding almost 50 PC reps so they can try and recoup some of the losses related to the purchases of Rectiv and Zenpep. its so difficult for the Specialty sales force to market and increase the sales of 4 different products that Aptalis probably figured the sales force could use some help. There are some reps with hundreds of miles in between targets. The more reps out marketing, the more money Aptalis will make, right RT? PC reps will be calling on the lower decile PC physicians and all of the other Crap targets that show up in the database. So, the no sees, ones that eat reps alive, and others that are deceased or retired. Enjoy

Sounds good, thank you very much!

There is another thread with salary range. From what I hear it is lower than other GI specialty companies. Bonus potential sucks. Goals fluctuate each quarter so it's difficult to get anything really decent and you most likely will not get your full bonus. Car right now is the Ford Escape, which is the worst car I've had with this company. Things have gone downhill with this supposed specialty company. Big Pharma is moving in. Or should I say, big Pharma has already moved in, Mr. Novartis. It's not the best company, but its not in last place either.

but PC reps wont be specialty and wont make as hig a salary as the existing teams. Will the new PC reps work for Aptalis or be contract? Contracts can end faster, I would prefer to be a full time employee.

PC reps will be contract, Quintiles. They will not be Aptalis employees but there is always an opportunity to join the best company in Pharma, if you play your cards right. If you want to be a full time employee on a non-contract basis, I suggest you look elsewhere. There have been so many changes at Aptalis in the past two years that you never know what is going to happen in the future. Just like any Pharma company, or the entire industry, in general. Good luck
