i heard that nancy decided to run the abbott it organization out of st paul. i heard that if you are not included in the new b vann organization you are on the rif list. congratulations if you were moved over. get your resume cleaned up if you were not. dont believe the hype. ask for the org chart.

BTS senior managers and the stj contemporaries have been meeting regularly for weeks now.
synergies have been identified, we all know what that means! yet another restructuring is on the way. this and the regionalisation program rumbles on, IBM/wipro are embedded now more responsibilities are continuously moving to them. is this the final curtain ?

it's a coming down the tracks, S.C. made a major Booboo and emailed the entire BTS groups with the plans and the attached the dreaded job profile questionaire. Major realignament with abbott/ st.jude, hold onto your hats its gonna be a rough ride from the 13th.

BTS received no such email. CAPTAIN korn- hole

On May 15, the BTS organization announced its new IT operating model and complementary structure. This is only step one in stabilizing our organization toward the new operating model, and ensuring we are ready for the integration of St. Jude in June. Here are some key guidelines in transition planning:

Continue doing the same work you’ve been doing to ensure no negative impact to the business

Current responsibilities will not change until you have completed transition planning, including any changes in training

A transition plan has been created (template attached) with agreement of this plan between both the individual transitioning work and the organization accepting the work, which also includes a timeline for transition with deliverables

This is good news . no layoffs. I just purchased a house too!

You never know. One minute your are here at Abbott.....the next you are gone. Good thing about Abbott is it always gives a good package so you have some margin for your mortgage payments if the axe swings your way.

Save your money. Limit debt. Otherwise the bosses have the control they so desperately desire.

What is a "good package"?

8 weeks as the base amount. One week for each year of service. 1/2 a week for each year over 40. When I got shit canned I was 57 years old with 12 years of service. So that is 8weeks + 12 weeks + (57-40)*.5 = 28.5 weeks. And Abbott rounded it up to 29 weeks. And of course unemployment insurance.

Abbott pays it out as PCL (paid continuous leave) so you get your paycheck every Thursday. The health insurance was covered for the entire 29 weeks.

Abbott may be a political quagmire but they sure take care of their employees....when you are there and when you are shit canned. And I got to my ten years so I can get a pension and some retiree healthcare when I stop working.

Severance package is decent but finding work past 40 is a headache especially when you kids to feed with a mortgage.Companies tend to favor younger hires.

Yep, package was great for me a year ago, plus the value of the pension. Getting chopped in the big Wipro wave was the best thing that ever happened to me.

There are lots of jobs out there.

I was 57 and found two permanent and one good contract job. I hold a technical degree so this did help. But you are correct....lots of age discrimination in the workplace.

Have always saved a lot and hold little if any debt. Gives one control over the job situation. Bosses love to see a financially stressed employee....gives them the upper hand. Same in hiring, a desperate worker will take a shitty job at a low salary.

There is no mercy.

So you found "Two permanent and one good job" Dude you better learn to lie better than that if you're going to troll 10 different boards. Your grammar skills are horrible, and no way your were in IT. Super size my fries now !

So hostile....

I got two offers for perm. One was shitty the other ok so I took it. The contract job was good in the sense that it paid $85 and hour but I turned it down. No benefits and only good for three or four months. I worked at the good perm job for a few years and at the age of 61 I retired.

Anyway, all in all Abbott is a good company. Maybe they treat the sales guys like shit but they do treat the chemists and other tech types well. But after a certain age management does not want you around.

Crawl back into your hole little beasty. We all know you are worthless, just lashing out at others to try and feel good about yourself. Must be a manager at Abbott.....

Well, maybe this guy is serving fries. Better than cleaning the horse stalls like you and coming home smelling like shit.
