Don't be a total idiot. The government put that clause in so they would encourage trials on peds. Until they did that there was too much risk in treating kids. This is a good thing in the big picture.

The government "put a lot of clauses in" that the pharmaceutical companies abuse, for profit. The pharmaceutical industry has eclipsed the defense industry for abuse of government contracts and other measures of corruption!
Think about that -- the defense industry's ONLY customer is the government, and the defense industry is a MAJOR category of spending for the government. But PHARMA has bigger dollars spent paying fines than the defense industry.
This must be stopped!

THIS is a good site to raise these issues on. Lots of people know about it -- even Congress tried to subpoena Cafepharma's records once. It is the industry website and the industry is corrupt, ripping off our country BIG TIME.
At over 14 T in debt and rising, the US is in fact bankrupt. Next thing you know they'll start trading oil in Euros, and then everyone here will be screwed. We'll be paying $8 a gallon for gas, electric bills will triple, everything else will run way up in price. The people of the USA need to pressure our government to tighten up and pay off the debt or the US will not be the world's only superpower much longer. China will be! If we do start paying off the debt, the money has to come from somewhere and billions wasted on overpriced pharmaceuticals is a great place to make some substantial cuts.
You'll have a lot more to bitch about than roommates at meetings, but it's coming one way or another.

Pharma is not the huge part of healthcare that you seem to think. Its a "small" part. If it were free, there's still be the very real challenge of competing with China a nd other cheap places.
But pharma is not the problem for the massive debt and entitlement.
