Boston filled, no opening here. Base $120k + options +. Quarterly bonus + 6 month salary review + full daycare for my preschool child. I am single mom

Actually the base im NYC is $187, plus all the perks and benes noted in other posts. We who sign on have it 'made'. I expect with bonus to hit the 250K mark without braking a sweat !

Let me explain how this works. PAM's will be generously compensated for the next 12 months. Your hard work will be appreciated. You will be responsible for creating awareness and pull through. While you are doing that, senior management will be trying to pony this company off to BP. Once complete, a reorg will take place and job descriptions will churn. Primary care reps will be given opportunities to jump into "specialty" for 85k bases. Legacy Pam's will be toast. If no other company buys Aimmune, the same restructure will take place. Legacy Pam's will be toast. Make money these next 12 months and keep networking. The next job will be needed very soon.

I agree somewhat but you are too pessimistic.
I was promised a 5 year window with the expectation of at least $175K a year. At present trajectory 220K for first 12 month span. So I'm ok with that. Agree networking is key to making the next promotion and I see $500K obtainable within 5 years. This business is booming. Located in Northeast region. BTW no sane rep would accept a pion base of 85K today with our stromg economy.

These high salaries are predicated on the fleecing of the American healthcare system. An allergist can provide the same therapy with a bag of peanut flour and a scale. The media should do their job expose this to the public.

Wrong. Salaries are based on skill sets and value brought to the position. As far as your assertion that allergists could provide the same therapy with a bag of peanut flour and a scale highlights your ignorance. Pharmaceutical companies as a whole are not "fleecing" the Amercian health care system in fact they are taking risks to potentially develop life altering therapies. Do your research and look into the costs to bring even one product to market. Look at the number of products that never make it to market and figure out how those costs are to be absorbed to continue development of other products. If you are happy with having only the drugs that are marketed currently of course costs could be reduced however, I don't know of anyone with a currently untreatable or ineffectively treated disease or condition that would agree with you. The good news is there are other countries who share your myopic view. Please relocate there.

there's also the cost of paying off (=political donations) the politicians. we all know that pharma is the most generous / corrupt in PAC donations of any industry. this is part of the "development" non recurring cost.

I spoke with HR for open position last week. Salary is based on experience and current range. She did not ask my exact salary but I was honest with my expectations on what it would take for me to consider leaving my current job. I’ve been in rare disease for almost 12yrs and held other commercial roles in leadership positions. For me, it would have to be 190-200k and that’s bc my current salary is 185k so it wouldn’t be a huge raise to make the jump. However, the company and opportunity sounds like it could be amazing. I’ll keep you posted if this works out.
