It’s very difficult to get RSUs or LTIs at J&J. Strong performance doesn’t guarantee you’ll get them unless you are in a director level position or above. Directors and above automatically receive LTIs even if their performance is terrible. Employees below the director level can be high performers but still not receive LTIs because they aren’t as favored as another employee. It’s not a good idea to accept the offer if LTIs are extremely important to you. This is a source of frustration among current employees and the lack standardization on who gets LTIs will probably be an issue for you.Can anyone share with me what annual RSU awards look like for a position like that at J&J? Coming from a startup where awards like this are commonplace. Thanks.
Yes, the pay bands are outdated. LTIs are possible but not guaranteed for M1 and M2. The decisions about who receives LTIs are made behind closed doors. Employees are stack ranked based on a combination of fact and opinion. The small bucket of LTIs are distributed to an even smaller number of employees. It’s a secretive process and employees are told they can’t discuss their LTI awards with other employees. I’m not sure that is completely legal but that’s what recipients are told.Thank you for your very thoughtful reply. I'm grateful.
