Could anyone (preferably an employee or hiring manager) tell me what a standard Relocation Package would entail for a mid-level manager position relocating from out of state? Most interested in home assistance- both buying and selling. Thanks!

You are kidding, correct?

There are NO mid-level managers, just peeons and the big dudes. Where are you relocating to, a trailer park in tornado alley? You put a post in the wrong place. Your post would be more comfortable in a dark, wet, smelly hole.

mid level manager? so you obviously don't have a job description...step 1 to the interview. we call them district managers.
you would be an idiot to leave unemployment for MedImmune. Just so you know! We are a highly micro managed, highly unhappy, highly at risk group of employees...and managers have it the worst. With huge districts, 3 night per week minimum of travel. Constant week long manager meetings that take you all over the place you marriage and family life with be destroyed. Add the stress of constant pip'ing of your most talent employees due to unfair illogical goal setting and you will wonderful if life is even worth it anymore. If you have any other opportunity...including welfare take it instead. quality of life is worth more than any title or paycheck you could ever have. there is no quality of life here...yes two years ago there was...but things have changed and Medi is no longer the company that it was.

Negotiate it!
Do you have a offer already, or are you fishing for premature information?

I too would like to see info on this? Given the high cost of living in the DC metro area, does Medimmune factor this into the initial offer?

Based on your experience, what did they offer YOU when you started here? Was there any help at all--moving costs, home loan assistance, etc? Did you ask for any? In the bay area lots of companies offer a lump payment to help with buying a home because of the high cost. This is essentially a zero interest loan. If you leave early, you have to repay the loan.

MedImmune relocation is one of the worst in the industry. If you've never relocated before you'll likely not notice but customer service or support for moving into the area is non existent. The relocation policy will often be reinterpreted after you have accepted the job and honestly I am unaware of anyone who did relocate who didn't have issues.

They believe an up front case payment smooths all and all the relocation people can do is act on your receipts and they have no feelings. Of course as they are managed by Weichert relocation on a total contract (not per case) they will push you to all their shared services including attorneys so your needs are out the window. Complain about it once there and you'll be tarred as a squeaky wheel.
