Resign

Why resign? Just do what I do which is nothing.Yesterday I was at the pool and today I am picking peaches. Nobody knows because my numbers fluctuate based on things out of my control. This place is comical.

I resigned, didn't work for a few months, and got rehired with a 15% pay increase soon after. Planning on retire before 55 so everything is working out fine for me ...

Has anyone simply resigned. No job to go to but simply left head held high. Not the right fit?

I resigned. Said family obligation or told the truth (despite winning these awards my bonuses were not paid out, company did not have benefits I was verbally promised; am looking to transition to a company with a smaller territory) and I am 6 months out of pharma despite making it to the final rounds of interviews with good companies. Manager was a narcissist and fake; Couldnt take her anymore and her flirting with docs I had to follow up with was mortifying.

Anyone able to secure an offer elsewhere after resigning?

ok serious responses only please....

what is day to day like in the field? ride alongs with managers? tracking? micromanagement?

The moment you leave LabCorp is the moment you realize there are way better lab jobs out there and the stress just melts away.

LabCorp is a glorified Pharma job that is micromanaged to death. The pay is better at almost any other company.

Plus hospitals are trying to bring in all the tests you are selling. Outsourcing lab work is expensive and depending on the test, they can save $100k per year per test. Even if you do genetics, the technology is getting so advanced, I predict they’ll slash the Salesforce because Hospitals will be able to do it.

Since the cash cow of COVID is mostly gone for LabCorp, hospitals are just doing it themselves. Testosterone, Estrogen, PSA, Cancer, psychiatric drugs like clozapine and drugs of abuse are all being brought in house. Because of TAT and cost savings to be able to release patients without waiting for the results for three days. Why do you think LabCorp is trying to take over hospital labs now?

Plus, the days of the independent physicians are gone. If you can quit without a job waiting for you, more power to you. But if you sick of it, no harm in looking while you’re employed.

last lab was bought out by quest. quest laid me off because they already had too many reps in my territory. I overlapped 6 reps. I have a gap in my resume bc of the non compete but I need to work somewhere….I’m under 40. a lot of employers cant hire me bc if they laid off someone over 40 and hired me they know its grounds for a lawsuit.

LC & Q are not trying to takeover hospital labs, they are buying them at a feverish pitch. LC will announce another health system acquisition soon. Hospitals are cash strapped and selling off their labs & outreach. This will accelerate in 2023 and will leave all the small independent & specialty labs fighting over a ever shrinking piece of the pie. Hospitals are not bringing more testing in house with the exception of COVID & some molecular. They are selling off. The game is over. Look for a job outside of the lab space. if you are not named L or Q you have maybe 2 years left before all the regional and small labs are gone.

I genuinely appreciate you for elaborating-I’m actually looking into clinical research; its where I was before I worked in the land of glorified MLM’s of pharma and lab sales. I can’t take having a manager anymore that constantly monitors my movements. I only had 1 company where my manager left me alone and it was because he was experienced and cool. Hes in real estate even though he’s very talented. Imagine having a manager you actually learned something from every time he visited and he never micromanaged your daily call volume and made you laugh. Why is it so hard to have a normal manager?
