sampling

How many sampling calls are required each day in primary care? Some managers require most calls be sampling calls. What if the doctor doesn't need samples? Is it assumed the call wasn't legitimate because a signature wasn't captured?

Some more either "A" young, untenured reps, or you were born and raised to be afraid of your own shadows. "I'm afraid of my DM" "He/she may yell at me, put me in a corner in the doctors office, or make me write a essay." "How many signatures do I need?"

If you have to ask a question such as that, then you deserve everything that you get. How about this - Try just going to see physicians to speak to them. If you don't get samples out for a fucking signature then so what! When your DM asks why you have only 1-2 signatures maybe, tell them that's because you are doing your job like an adult.

And then he says "I am getting heat on this from our RM. We need more signature calls. Every day. Just go out and do it."

Carson used to say, "I don't care how many sample details you make. Some managers use this to determine whether or not reps are working. If I want to know if you are working, I'll look at your share or TRx volume growth. If it's not moving in a positive direction, it doesn't matter. Either you're not working or just can't sell... either one is not good. We are not paid to make calls... We are paid to sell product."

Many managers that are left confused activity with accomplishment. Management common sense was displaced back in January.

THE SKILL AND BEHAVIORS PART ALLOWS MANAGERS TO BE SUBJECTIVE... IT ALLOWS MANAGERS TO DEVELOP THEIR OWN CULTURE BASED ON THE KIND OF PEOPLE THEY LIKE. IT ALL STARTED WITH DON PATT*N.... THE KING OF NEPOTISM. HE PLAYED IT TO THE HILT THREE MONTHS PRIOR TO THE LAST LAY OFFS. PROTECTED ALL HIS CRONIES FROM TAP INTO POSITIONS WHERE THEY WERE SAFE. "I OWN ALL THE POSITIONS IN PPD" IS WHAT HE BOASTED. HE ALSO BELLOWED, "YOU HAVE THE OBLIGATION TO DISSENT". OF COURSE, THERE USUALLY FOLLOWED RETRIBUTION. I"M NOT SURE WHO WAS WORSE, HE OR THE LAST LADY IN THE JOB...

They will still tie it to your sales numbers. It's a huge lie that it's based on skills and behaviors. It is still based on numbers.

This so subjective and managers have their favorites. Managers also are gossips based on their assumptions. It can be very detrimental to a persons career IF the manager chooses. Because our evaluations are subjective, EVERY manager should have to do a 360 assessment and the let the reps rate them. That should determine their final rating. The DM turns into the RM what he or she wants them to perceive is going on.

Leaving samples = getting signature = I was in the office

Simple thing to do for CYA purposes...Leave "one and you're done" has been pharma "sales" for a long time now.

Doc know the routine

Sampling is a way to make sure you are in the field. All they want is an electronic paper trail. When they decide you are not wanted, they will use time stamps to get you. Just wait.

DM here... Yeah, I remember DC saying that. He always had a way of cutting right to what made the most sense for really growing the business. Miss that...
