Looking for honest answers from mature people.

thinking about applying for several different sales rep jobs in the optical industry. Did some research and finding jobs at several “major” companies.

Alcon, Cooper Vision, Bausch Health, Essilor, Marchon, Abb Optical, Zeiss Medical.

what 1-2 companies are the best to work for. What ones are worst and should be avoided.

Already searched glass door and other sources for info. So much negativity Hard to know truth. I have worked in dental and derm.

figured cafepharma is best bet for truth.

thank you in advance for honest answers

Interviewed with Alcon and had what could only be described as a unique experience. Panel interview, with people who clearly didn't want to interview me or care what I said during the interview. At the start, I was expecting a little "hello, how you doing, thanks for taking the time" but got none of it. As deep into the interview process as it was, didn't expect interview 101 behavioral questions. To top it off, the questions weren't even questions. The interviewers, combined 2 or 3 behaviors into one question. ( have interviewed hundreds in my time and am well versed in when and where behavioral interviews belong.) As I began to answer, the interviewers, never looked at me but spent time looking around their surroundings. Their faces were ones of "don't want to be here, don't want to be doing this". I almost stopped the interview myself to ask them if working for Alcon makes them feel miserable. Because that is how they looked-sad, unhappy, miserable. I obviously didn't move on to the next panel interview. BUT in retrospect, it was a good thing. These were unhappy people, unhappy to be doing a job and unhappy in creating a legacy for Alcon. Wherever I end up, I will be sure to do my best to make those around me happy in the work, happy in the inclusive environment and happy to have me caring about their input and time. Good luck to all at Alcon. It truly was a unique experience.
