Synthes Integration Process a Disgrace

The process of integrating Synthes and DePuy is disgraceful. The leadership of these two organizations has been working together on this initiative for nearly 18 months and once the deal closed, pre-determined plans should have been ready to implement and yet today, critical decisions as basic as where specific DePuy Synthes companies will be headquartered have not yet been made and/or communicated. This has left employees of DePuy as well as Synthes in turmoil and certainly not focused on their jobs while preoccupied with the thought of potentially losing their job.

And where is human resources in this initiative? Isn't this the function that should be driving this process and insuring the most critical asset (our people)of the organization is handled appropriately?

So many of my talented colleagues are working with headhunters and will soon land positions as a result of the broken integration process. Talent we would surely want to retain will exit the organization soon.

So Mr. Orsinger and Mr. Gorky, when will you take charge of this integration and put
more horsepower and stronger leadership in place to help drive this process?

Leadership? There will be NONE of that coming from anybody in J&J. Hasn't been any of that since the late '90's.

HR, Leadership, Are you freakin' kidding me?
They know where headquarters will be, the longer they keep you guessing, the more stressed out they make you, the better chance they have of you jumping ship and the more money they save by having to dole out less severance packages. After all, "It's all about the money". Just put on a life jacket and find a nice rail and watch the ship go down. There will be life (a better one) after J&J. Send in the clowns, no wait, they are already here!

HR "Leadership" at DePuy has been a disgrace for years. Is that worthless POS Kate still there? What a joke! Only conern was herself and how to make herself look good. How many HR people from even 2 years ago are still there? Can you blame them?

That worthless POS Kate, was shown the door! The fact that it took this long is an utter disgrace!

Too bad their egos were so big, maybe they should have asked some of the people that lived thru the Pfizer transition a few years ago for some Lesson's Learned.

Sounds like some of you guys just need a little bit more Team Building exercises.
That always helps to solve the immediate problems and challenges.
Can you say "Buffet Lunch" ??

Sad but true, Synthes is calling the shots not JNJ. Never thought I would see that. U think HR is bad at JNJ, Synthes harbors and protects known, outspoken, racists, drug addicts (not users, addicts), registered sex offenders (rapist) etc. The list goes on. Why u ask? - because they have relationships with the Surgeons and money is more important. The senior leadership team from Synthes that went over shouldn't be managing a McDonald's let alone steering the new Depuy ship. On top of all that, the industry is right sizing compensation for these reps. The days of making $400K plus working 30 hours a week, sitting in the OR with 2-3 of your surgeon buddies covering cases the surgeons can do with their eyes closed and then putting screws and rods back in a tray are LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOng gone and should be. These reps are considered the cream of the crop in medical sales, yet, they are 100% farmers. When they will be tasked to become hunters in order to make $250K, you will see deer in headlights. They haven't made a sales call in years and don't know how too. It's about time!!!

There are several more people who are going to get the boot as soon as the current FDA audit is over. I am pretty sure JNJ has been playing a version of "Undercover Boss" with us by getting one of their own hired here as a contractor. It is the perfect cover to let them see what is really going on when our management doesn’t think anyone is watching. Should be some interesting fireworks to watch if / when they reveal themselves.

That is too funny if true. What makes you think they are doing that? I would love to see the looks on their faces if it is for real.

I recognized one of the contractors working up here from a previous job. He came in as a "contractor" there as well and spent about 2 months working with us. Nothing seemed unusual until his last day there when he spent the whole afternoon in a conference room with a couple of executives from our parent company along with the global director of quality and a plant manager from our division, both of whom suddenly announced their resignations the following morning.
