Can anyone inform me of the Technical Field Specialist role? I believe it's on the spine side. What are the day to day activities of this position. I see that it says 70%+ travel. Ow extensive is that. Is that travel locally, regionally, or nationally? Thanks in advance for all the insight

Are you seriously considering applying for a position w/ this company. Not only are they facing legal action, a possible hostile merger/sale but have you read these posts. This company is in trouble and you will merely be setting yourself up for possible failure. Not to mention that the position that you are referring to is merely a label that more than likely will be changed within the year. This company is clueless.

How is this company in trouble? If they were as bad as they say, why would a company like J&J want to buy them? Go troll somewhere else.

Couldn't be any further then "in trouble"

In trouble? Yes...but very health. Synthes has a gross profit margin of 82.5% with very specialized products. The competition cannot operate with this gross profit margin because of the diversified products that they have that costs a narrowing margin. As the current state of healthcare is decreasing reimbursments and hospitals are putting the squeeze on us to give bigger discounts, Synthes will not be able to resist discounting for much longer...when you discount...you decrease sales dollars...when you decrease sales dollars...your narrow your margin...when you narrow your margin...you decrease stock prices. Your company will then look "not as healthy." Bottom line...there is no better time for Synthes to sell? They are at the peak and the company will sell at its top dollar. If they hold out, their value will fall. JNJ on the other hand will pick up an incredible amount of marketshare in trauma and in spine. They will be able to disount pricing heavily on the Synthes line leveraging the pricing for more business. They will bundle big time!!!

Blind or dumb? I just listed 3 solid, obvious explanations. As for trolling, what would you be considered doing. I've always stated my purpose: to keep hardworking, honest, intelligent individuals from getting stuck in a dishonest, unethical company.

Travel is probably 100% unless you are covering a case where you live. This position was first created to support ProDisc cases, it has since been expanded to include other new technologies. Ultimately your role would be to support the sales consultant and be the "expert" in the room on the first cases with these new products. Personally, I don't want you guys anywhere near my accounts. Some of the FTS's are exceptional and bring value to a case, but I've seen others who are clinically lacking and dont add much value. ultimately, this is a very good company...

Unfortunately, with the merger being announced today I think Synthes spine may be in some trouble. If there are positions available with trauma or maxillofacial I would look into that. Things are just so uncertain with spine after today.

Good luck
