What is the training like? Location and length of training for Caulk division?
What is the training like? Location and length of training for Caulk division?
Dentsply excels at training. It's some of the best in the industry. And Caulk is the best within Dentsply. If you have the chance to work for Caulk, count your lucky stars. Just stay away from the Professional division.
Ok so I was contacted for a phone screen and know very little about the company. Know enough to understand the products and structure but why is there so much about Caulk vs. Professional representatives? What is the inside scoop on this? My pharma company sucks and was looking to get into dental due to the stale culture and access issues in pharma. Why is caulk so much better? I thought it was all the same shit, benefits, pay, management etc....can someone help an newbie out before i make a big mistake? thanks brothers.
what territory are u applying for? stay away from the west...and john smith
Training is on-the-job, Dentsply is a turn and burn company, training depts are admin positions. Pay is average for entry level, best to get out in 2-4 years. Car, benefits etc are standard. Sales Dir's at multiple divisions are former pharma rmgrs. Not a bad option if you need sales exp, not much of a leap if your a pharma order-taker already.

Good info and thanks for reply. What do you mean training is "Admin" positions? I thought Dentsply had a long formal training program at a home office? This is not the case?
Also, how about 401k, vaca, gas card, etc...you know the important stuff? I was told that Dent-supply is trying to phase out their rep model and drop the deadwood used car sales guy stigma and hire more of the big pharma types, you know, younger faster good looking, sophisticated, sharp, promotable, energetic and have sold under the pharma model not the distributor and dental model. Talent is hard to find and does not come cheap, with this known is DS willing to raise its salary bands and attract more talent??
DS from what I hear is trying to bring more pharma people in and change the culture of the hard charger enterprise rent a car mentality of current reps. . I know of few Dent-supply reps and none of them would ever make it through 1 round of interviews for pharma....this freaks us out a little, the culture of who currently works at DS is definitely not pharma but some of you state on here the the big pharma model is what DS really is looking for and trying to replace while dropping the dead wood of the old guard of the copier and cell phone sales guys who run around in cheap suits ford fiestas.

Who is John Smith? Have a interview with Caulk next week and by looking at most of these post Dentsply is not a company to work for. Noticed there are a total of 9 openings in Cali...any particular reasons why?
Thanks
I really don't understand how these supply companies hire. I went to dental school, I have experience working with dental materials and I am young and energetic. Dentsply sent me an auto response that stated that I am not qualified for a dental sales rep position. Help?
You played around with impression materials and flunked out of dental school and you think that makes you qualified to sell? Product knowledge is only about 20% of any sales job. Developing relationships and knowing how to close is the other 80%. Have you ever taken a business class or sold anything in your life?[/QU
LOL, a Dentsply rep developing relationships and closing. Buying your dist reps meals doesn't count you fool. You XRAY reps are a joke to all of us!
