UHC letter

What effect will the UHC letter coming out next week really have? I am new, but I have many clients sending us UHC work because they hate LCA. Some reps tell me we are screwed, but others say it really won't make any difference.

most patient's do not care where their labs go, they care about how much is coming out of their pocket, so if $25 is more then they would have paid if it went to LCA....they will be calling and complaining, Guaranteed! and of course, then the dr will get a call and therefore call U, the Sales rep. Brace yourself Baby

Or, how about the entire accession gets applied to the patients OON deductible and the owe 100% of a $500 invoice? That's more realistic than $25.

What UHC letter? I am in the backcountry and Pony Express comes twice per month. Honestly, I have not heard anything about any UHC letter.

I think the letter was mailed on 2/7 to clients who have sent UHC in the last 6 months
It basically works like this, if UHC says the patient owes $10, we will bill them $10...If they say the patient owes $100, we will bill them $25. Our bill will cap at $25.00

......the issue isn't the Quest letter to clients/patients.....but rather the upcoming letter from UHC to their provider network and patients. This is the one to be very concerned about. Regardless of what Quest does to adjust or reduce the patient balance due on the back end, the original claim from Quest is still applied to the UHC patients OON deductible and OON Out of pocket maximum. Definitely less benefits for the patient.

I checked with some of my clients in NY and no one seems to have received this letter. Does this policy include the NY/NJ area or do they,as usual, have a different set of rules???

Yeah this letter came out in Missouri late last year. And that is why goalsharing is 1.17% so far. Of course it is our fault because we (bottom employees) make deals with insurance companies!
