UROLOGY

I work in the InterStim division. The BPH therapy is called Prostiva. That's a different division, and quite frankly, it's a terrible division. They have drastically reduced the sales force in that division over the last few years. They seem to layoff anyone who does well for too long (keeps costs down). It would seem to me that they are trying to sell the division off. It doesn't really seem to fit with the other therapies Medtronic offers. I'd stay away.

Why would any company layoff someone who was doing well? Obviously you are lacking in business sense and are working in an environment that is lacking competition (for now)...

Are you a complete idiot, or do you just not read closely? The Prostiva division is most likely going to be sold off from Medtronic. To make it more attractive to investors, they try and keep the costs down to make the division look more profitable. So, when someone does too well, they tend to find a reason to get rid of them, or they take them to another division. The hgiher performers make a lot of money, which makes the costs (on paper) go up. Do you get it now? Or do I need to use really small words and speak slowly for you short bus?

As for Prostiva not having competitors, I think you are really confused. Prostiva has all sorts of MIT competitiors (Greenlight, Prolieve, etc.). Are you confusing Prostiva and ItnerStim? Or are you just one of those people who talks out of their ass with no regard for what you are really saying?

It is true, Prostiva has been downsized. Medtronic would like to put Prostiva to rest. Sales force was reduced leaving only 11 reps to cover the country. I am trying to get out myself.

will uroplasty product be competition for interstim once it starts getting reimbursed?

a quasi - competitor, but they are happy if they can get 25% efficacy after wrapping that thing around your ankle. interstim isn't implanted unless there is at least 50% efficacy. can you compete against a tibial nerve stimulator with extremely questionable clinical data? if not apply somewhere else.
