Variable Comp

There is significant talk of variable comp taking another whack in Q1 '17. How much lower can they go? It's such a difficult job already trying to move so many products across so many specialties. Now they're reducing comp?!? Don't get the logic.

I wouldn't doubt this for a nanosecond. Consider doing what I and many others are doing. Use Ethicon as a springboard to get into the REAL device job world. Make quota 2 years and hop to greener and better paying pastures.

I agree but which other device companies are desirable these days? Not being sarcastic, really curious.

I have been with ETHICON 8 years now and I'm at the end of my rope like so many others. Yesterday, I had to download the comp plan for H2 because I had a question about one of the buckets. That's when it really hit me and I thought enough is enough. It's too complicated and its completely stacked against the rep. When I have to look through a freaking several page document and come up with a massive strategic plan to hopefully hit plan, then I know it's time to move on. It's been this way for several years but for some reason and I'm not sure why, I just has enough yesterday and decided I'm out of here.

It's been real ethicon...see ya

The only thing you'll regret is having not left sooner. Ethicon is the laughingstock of med device. Put on your big boy pants and get a real job and you'll be thanking yourself every week.

Can say that this is true. I truly hate my job. With a passion. JnJ goes out of the way to make sure you know and feel like a peasant. They push us around and force us to chase a comp plan that no one understands. They ignore ideas and bury complaints/incidents. And they do all of this under the gigantic umbrella of the "Credo". It makes going to work for them beyond miserable every day.

I left there 3years ago and I can honestly say, it was the best decision I ever made. Funny, same kind of post which is why I left. Wait until you stop drinking the Credo Koolaid and you will truly realize how badly you've been screwed. Sorry to all still around...

What a great thread all of it true and guess what else they don't care if you leave which is another incentive to leave the morale is so low that I don't think anyone who has been around for 7 or more years will stand it much longer it has become the biggest messes and disasters of all medical device so disconnected from reality
Try figuring out how to get exceeds in the how do they have that in the comp plan because that process is a whole new level of bs

I wonder what will happen in 2017 lots of problems already with HD1000 and not a lot of happy reps I hear lots of good people leaving

what is the variable comp at plan here?

That's almost impossible to answer. There's a 25+ page document to help us understand it and nobody does. Nobody. It's like understanding the appeal of the Kardashians.

It's based off of your base salary. You have how and why goals which result in a certain %. I HAVE NO CLUE HOW THEY CAME UP WITH THAT AND WHY.
