VPs of Nothing

One of the reasons this place such a mess, is that leadership positions are filled with people who have no experience in the therapeutic area. VP for Rare Disease came from a primary division, a Rheumatology DM to dermatology Home, a Respiratory Therapy Director from ONC DM who doesn’t know the difference between myeloid and myeloma, or Dermatology executive leadership who wants to see call metrics for everyone, including KOL. How can you effectively run a team when you don’t even have an understanding of the therapeutic area?

To get promoted at Amgen you must be female and/or have an accent. Truth

Absolutely need to be a beta cuck Euro male who either wears skinny jeans, owns an ascot, or is a member of the Green Party in their home country. Helps if you went to boarding school, use holiday as a verb, and abhor American Football.

Don't forget you must also monitor LinkedIn real-time and comment on every Amgen promotion. It's the same fools posting all the time, don't you have a job?

I love it here and get a bit pissed when people poke fun at Amgen, but this is the worst thing I've ever seen. Senior Leadership constantly talking on LinkedIn, over using the phrases like "honor to serve patients", "compelling", "limitless", "astonishing", "strategic" and all the other adjectives, but the worst are the cases where someone takes a trivial, everyday interaction, and analyzes the shit out of it to come up with some divine wisdom that they benevolently share with us, thereby demonstrating their intellectual superiority. To make it worse, these posts are usually written in an overly dramatic but drawn-out fashion. Then all their reporting chain chimes in with, "so bold", "inspiring", or "a true leader!" Why not just go to work. No one reads the posts outside the Amgen TO hive.

The leadership on the RDBU especially on TEP team is clueless and it’s laughable. The person they just promoted to VP has ZERO rare disease experience just like the rest of them and thinks the SPIFF we have is “so awesome”.
