Still an issue. Under SS and RM there was a MASSIVE exodus of MSLs in H2 2021 and H1 2022. Ones staying are a lot of naive new hires and sleazy old guards who are busy being proud promo pawns.
Credibility and trust continues to be lost in the ecosystem collaboration for patients (AKA prescriptions $$$). Otsuka MSLs give PROMOTIONAL presentations to 1-4 attendees (1 HCP if lucky and 3 staff) at lunches with 1-2 sales people in the same room. It’s laughable.
Why didn’t SS protect the integrity of medical? Why did he get more and more cozy with commercial?

A problem is that sales people ask the MSLs that are the most sales-y to do their programs. It’s like when they choose prescribers to speak. If the speaker diminishes risks of the drug, they get used again as a “good” speaker. If they are more fair balanced, stick to the science and don’t do as much cheerleading they don’t get used as much or at all.
So true!! I couldn’t get away from that hot mess fast enough! She is one of the faves and rats out all of her team and colleagues to the boss.
