We need to create a culture of asking tough questions. If ten people are sitting in a room, there needs to be (at least) one person who takes the opposition and makes fun of ideas. They need to be asking if this concept is REALLY going to help sell this product in a shifting marketplace.

It may hurt the Vectra product managers feelings, but it will make the marketing better. God knows we need it since we can't make the product better.

Now, if there was a person playing defense in the pitch meetings, then we are in t.r.o.u.b.l.e.

Agree 100% #5. That clowns response to leave is someone that had their ego hurt.... awwww I so sowwwwy Mr. Feelings :(

Tell you what, come up with some real campaigns that will make us real industry players so we can earn some real (much needed) commissions. Leave your Kleenex at home tomorrow and come in with a fresh brain!
 


Sogeval products are going to give us a foot in more clinics than we could have ever imagined. Some of those clinics will be excited to hear about our "new" heartworm preventative. Some will buy in on the bundling program we create, unless our crack marketing department screws that up as well.

Point - Counter Point

Point 1: We have the best topical Flea and Tick product. It covers more bugs than anything else.

Counter Point: The movement toward orals is palpable. We tried to slow it down with WWFTB. Despite our vast efforts WWFTB has not turned any heads. What is our genius solution? WWFTB 2.0. Naming it "2.0" would indicate that it had been improved, or radically changed from the original "1.0" version.

Point 2: Ceva wants us to promote the profitability and protection of combining Vectra and PH6.
Counter Point: Well, don't promote it with any marketing materials because that will make our Distributor partners mad since they don't get paid on PH6.

Point 3: Doctor, I hear that your customers are asking for Nexgard, but you can get it on 800 Pet Meds and Merial promised you that Pinkerton would protect you. We are vet still exclusive!

Counter Point: Vet exclusive only matters if the Vet values it, and it is obvious that they don't. I think they are shooting themselves in the foot, but Ceva is shooting themselves in the foot by not pursing what the market is telling you it wants; an oral product that works (no throwing up in dogs, no abnormalities in puppies).

Am I wrong in any of these points or counter points?

2.0 means we couldn't come up with something new and we had to launch a new program because we had nothing to offer to boost sales. Try selling a practice on something that didn't work the first time. Good luck!
 


The thing is that those lowly Sogeval reps sell more dollars in shampoo and mousse than we sell in Vectra.

In the end, I want to get out a bag of popcorn because this is rather entertaining. Here are my thoughts:

1) How old are you people? Really... getting on a thread and complaining about your jobs, coworkers, your compensation, etc. You sound like a bunch of 12 year old girls talking about Justin Bieber. I really feel sorry for you. Instead of spending time with your family, taking your wife out to dinner or doing whatever... you'd rather spend your time on here.

2) No one cares. Clearly you all like to complain to one another so keep on keeping on. Enjoy being a bunch of turds.

3) In the end, you control your own destiny. I image that this little group is made up of people that cannot hit their goals.

4) You have my contact information. You can call me any time. It will be off the record because I would really, really enjoy speaking with you and discussing your thoughts. Based on the comments on here you clearly have it all figured out.

I don't know about you... But when I think about the fact that no one made money last year, I don't think about blaming marketing. How about placing blame right where it belongs- a shitty comp plan and questionable sales leadership. Things aren't perfect here, but a thread to bitch about one of the few people in the office genuinely trying to help us out just makes me sad that you work here. Go bitch about the things that are really wrong with this organization.
