Figure it out people, Ethicon is being bled out to pay for the robot and anyone that stays will be IQVIA selling skin staplers. Pharma doesn’t want you, Auris doesn’t want Ethicon reps.
This is not a case of the ship is taking on water, it’s a dead company and it will pay for other companies to start and then will be dismantled.

You are Wal-Mart of health care and anyone can say that’s down isle 16.
If you stay there than you get what you deserve

Engineers can’t listen to the customer when they ask for powered or even an articulation knob.
Covidien can take them down the path of 2 reloads (purple or Tan) while Ethicon has to make it complex.
One bleeds and one doesn’t
When 4th to market with buttressing why not be the most expensive..... but at least it will cover up all the blood from your oozing staple line.

We can't seem to win stapling business from MDT. Such a frustrating situation. The only portfolio we can win is suture, but there is only so much suture you can sell.
We need another differentiated product in EM.
 






Covidien has better staplers. It is really that simple. Ethicon has what, 60-65% stapler marketshare? thats with holding suture over every hospital's head, they can only get to 60+%
So if the stapler had to stand on its own with no hit to suture pricing, what would the marketshare be?

Their powered is pretty garbage, but the simple fact of the lack of an articulation knob with Ethicon's is a joke. It has been made clear that surgeons want/need the articulation. Just make one.
 




You're asking a company to incorporate an articulation knob, which it has done on previous staplers, onto an existing stapler??!! You realize this is the same company that took YEARS to launch a lap applicator for Powder? A freaking flexible tube. And you think they can engineer something on a stapler inside of a decade?? HA HA HA HA!! That is rich.
 


Let's not forget Super Jaw aka Super Flaw. As soon as we saw that device prior to launch during rep training, we knew it was a complete bust. Only took seven or eight years to get a replacement.
