Stumbled upon this post on Merials board
"Say hello to your third and forth quarter bonuses ladies and gentlemen. We will hit a home run with a $5 staff incentive for FL & HG. Veterinarians will suck our teets long and hard with this one. Thank you Corporate. Thank you for getting my son a new GI Joe with the kungfoo grip. This holiday season will be flush with green while our competitors will cry the blues. Thank goodness Veterinarians are such greedy little fools. So predictable! It almost feels criminal to buy them off this way. But who am I to say? I will ride this wave and rest peacefully knowing that we control this market regardless of market pressure. Greed is good."

I had to chuckle at first, but then thought, why don't we have a staff reward program like theirs to get the staff motivated selling it for us ?

Might not be a bad idea. I doubt your senior management will be ever so inclined to send you to a big box store to recruit pharmacists to pay your bills.
As soon as veterinaryland pulls their heads out of their asses and realizes they're a team from the kennel person to your CEO we all grow.

Don't laugh, my manager probably WILL think of telling me to go to a big box store and report back what marketing strategies they're using ! If the CEO and the vets treated the kennel person and the rest of the foot soldiers with some appreciation and respect....the sky could be the limit. We the pions know more about the real world than you do Dr. Degree. Take the stick out of your ass and remember our hard work built your empire

Hello Pion...it's a Democracy, you can create the world you live in. A choice.
CMA just boosted SB128 potentially creating more dough to cover lost revenue from a big box store for your products they weren't supposed to have. A choice.... one that they made.

Stick in my ass? Please....remember who you taught and who listened and then sold your shit within a veterinary practice for well under your average salary. Gladly. The way I see it...it's your choice if you "have" to go in to a big box store.

Thanks for the Starbucks and the free lunch. Maybe in a couple years you can request they order food trays so you can stop at the Big Box store on your way and explain to the pharmacist staff why a possible side effect of Bravecto is webbed feet and why Nexgard didn't test for it which makes you ohhh so much better beyond the fact it lasts for 90 days. Might save you some time.
Nexgard Spectra...can't wait to hear what you'll come up with against that one.

The Real World: Veterinarians are too busy working and suck at congregating, REALLY suck at it. Their staff? Well.....you figure it out. You wanna stop at Big Box stores for lunch and learns and/or Market Strategies...your choice.

P.S. Not laughing. Waiting and watching as usual.
My opinion: When NO ONE is "screaming"..... everyone's guilty and everyone's innocent.

What in the name of kickbacks are you people talking about? I go to the Orlando meeting each January and if you hit any hotel bar after 6 you will see vets congregating. IMO we are not a team. We all have our function but team work is not one of them.

It's obvious. You want the team to sell your shyt? Really?

Veterinarians congregating at a bar.....exactly. They should be congregating in the nearly empty business management and computer courses they know nothing about yet seek to control. Instead, they jam pack a room talking about diabetes that they've already read about thousands of times, etc. Maybe Orlando's different than Reno....I have no idea.

Just a tip: You might want to start acting as a team and do your lunch and learns with your competitors products they have chosen to sell. Show them how to sell your products together, save your vet some cash in wages for their employees. The number one annoyance to a veterinarian (or any business owner) is a staff that doesn't work as a team. If you can sell teamwork and education with your products, IMO...you have clinics for life. Then again........we'll see who "owns" who 3 months from now. Might not be in your best interest.

one can assume that you sell to Vet practices yet you seem to show disdain for your customer focus. You are upset that medical professionals choose to attend a medical lecture as opposed to a computer work shop? The most current research on diabetes would hold a vets attention despite them reading numerous diabetes articles. You can't place all practices into one stereotype. They are separate entities or an individual small business operations with differing points of concern and focus. Reps are mostly an annoyance. They have limited knowledge and receive training that is less than objective. Merck is a classic example. The rep comes in and has the talking point of the quarter or for 2015 to date the year. Trust me I know you have Bravecto. My question to you is how well do you know your other products? With the responses I have received when posing a product question my take is not much.

LOL...any day...any time...I also know how to listen to clients and read labels

    Lonestar tick only
A collar without a breakaway device
    Bite to die
    Too much liquid
    Not enough liquid
    Just enough liquid
    Vomiting
    No vomiting
    Pork flavored
    Beef flavored
    A Repellent, not a preventative
    30 days, 6 weeks, 8 months
    OTC, prescription only
    Diverted, not diverted
    DR, CR
    HD, Non-HD
Data migration for an additional 5k for a csv file
    Oaths...Ethics...
    SKUs...well........that's what a computer's for.....

One can assume that you're a possible veterinarian in a possible world. Of course the most current research on diabetes would hold their attention. It's comfortable, might even make them a better doctor, learn 2-5 things they "didn't know" already.
Have you ever tried to teach a vet paperless? Set up an email account? Email a client? How to text? Group text? Email a fellow DVM, or open an email in general? Open a jpg? My personal favorite....locate that "one" handout.

ANYTHING else on a computer or veterinary software in general? How about a relief vet? or an associate? One business/computer class with notes on these basic principles....5-20 things. Might make them a better asset to a business with evolving technology.
But hey, what's CE for anyway.

    P.S. Reps are annoying? LOL

Yeah they are. But the ones who are intelligent ( most ) and multi skilled, the ones who can show more than the deal if the day. Priceless if they seize the opportunity.

Reps are not seen by vets because they are mostly I'll informed and spend my time contradicting what one of the competitor reps presented. They need to understand our practice does not revolve around their schedule. Boring thread. Move on but not to my clinic.

Why would a veterinarian read material from Pharma reps? My Pharma and supply expenditure is a substantial expense. You as reps say a great deal of what market share you are attempting to capture as well as negatives on your products and your organization. Reading various threads on your site and that of Zoetis and Merrial leave me hesitant to do all but what is necessary for my practice. My impression is that your management structure is not vet focused. Keep talking . It benefits my bottom line.

My opinion: As a nonvet non sales rep who wrote 9 of the posts in this thread, more on Merial, and Zoetis.....
I beg to differ.....management structure is too vet focused, not vet team focused. A veterinarian has the credit card....but the team sells it....
