I am 25 years years with the company and will have a great old formula pension , 401k, social security. I work hard , upgrade my skill sets and if need be , will be quickly hired externally. My pension alone will be 7.5k a month.

Never say never. I was old pension along with a number of my colleagues with 15+ years service AND under 50. Always high performer and high ratings under tenure at J&J (5 or above). I was let go and all I can say is that it is J&J’s loss. I was quickly contacted by another company about a week after I was let go. Sent the new job offer to J&J for approval during severance right after signing and it was approved.

Bye J&J. Your loss. Thanks for the learnings that I can now apply at another company. You do the math.
