Welcome to the JNJ company board. Anyone is welcome to post here, whether they are an employee of the company or not. You may post anonymously without registering (registered users please logout before posting if you wish to do so), or with a registered username.

Managers and reps are encouraged to communicate with fellow employees here. If you are interested, we can also provide you with a private, password-protected board for your pod, district, etc. Just email webmaster@cafepharma.com for the details.

How long has this board been active?
I suppose reps can post to each other... Is anyone working with Ortho Biotech and Procrit? What are the early view #s for Q3 on Procrit? Amgens Aranesp is starting to take some market share I hear!

Hi and thanks for posting!

These boards are a new addition to the site's message boards, and yes, their main purpose is to allow a place for reps in the particular pharma company to post to each other, share successes, complain, vent, ask questions, you name it. Managers are welcome as well. You may post completely anonymously. Please spread the word to your fellow reps.

And, let me know at webmaster@cafepharma.com if you might be interested in a password-protected private message board for your pod, team, district, etc., and we can set it up for you!

Are there any DMs that frequent this site? I am working hard to break into the industry. I walked into the J&J regional office here in Dallas just to get in front of someone and to show how determined and go-getting I am. I hear that interveiws are being scheduled for next week and I would love to be a part of that! I also plan to take a day off next week to park at medical city and meet as many reps as I can.
Wish me luck! If you are a DM reading this, or an HR rep, I'll meet with you any time!

Sarah,

Thanks for creating the OMP board. If we could work for a company that responded to requests and criticisms as quickly as you do work would be awesome!

Another request: would you start a thread for Baxter? I would be interested to see what they have to say.

Thanks!

Mike,
Right now the place to be is not J & J. Check out the Janssen or Ortho boards....many people are unhappy with the merger, downsizing, overworked and underappreciated. Check out some of the companies that are doing well....Pfizer, Novartis, or Forrest Labs to name a few. Good Luck Mike at trying to get into the industry...you are very determined--don't give up! You will find something that fits. Take my advice and don't choose J & J. Two of the big guys at the top left the company recently.....does that tell you anything? Good Luck man!

JNJ is definitely NOT the place to be right now...Ortho-Biotech is the mos unethical company I have ever worked for and I had to get out it was soooo bad! There is a DM over there named Lynn Barry that is a complete psycho and only got the job bc she is friend with a VP- they call her BAD BREATH LYNN BARRY...Watch out for Ortho-Biotech- its a friggin disaster over there...

Poor mgmt, cover-up, and unethical behavior is going to land this company before the FDA sooner than later... Old Bill Sheldon should take note before he and his kronies are standing in front of a courtroom with their tails between their legs!!!

Does anyone have any info on the Lifescan division of J&J?
Approx. what type of earnings do the reps make?
Is the compensation base + commissions or base + bonus?

I am interviewing with a Lifescan mgr. this week

Go to lifescan.com to see products and other info. I worked there for 11 years, been gone now 2. Still have many friends there. If you are interviewing for the "professional" side as opposed to the hospital business unit, that is a good thing. LifeScan just had a major expansion in order to reach more PCP's. The sales force has grown over the years, used to be only around 120 for a long time. Think it's up to around 300 now. Meters and strips are pretty much a commodity item, but I found this job more enjoyable than pharma because you have a tangible product to show offices. Many times you can get them to use the meter in the offices to test patients and it gives you a good reason to go back in. Competition is very high, and managed care is key. Meters are like drug, need to be on formulary. LifeScan has been the market leader off and on over the years. Upper management has seen many changes and backorders are very common. Becoming more like pharma in past few years, more account targeting, more big brother, more micromanagement. Overall, if you are currently in pharma, I think you'll enjoy this much more. Lot's of diabetes fairs, educations gigs, extra activities you'll need to be involved in. Competitors are Roche, Abbott, and Bayer. Some at J&J feel LifeScan is the where the losers go....I don't understand this, but you may hear this in the industry.

What area are you interviewing in? Base, depending on your experience, will probably be around 60K, commissions annually probably around 25-30K. (just ball park, when I was there it was lower, but I've heard it's better now). J&J is a great company to work for, great benefits etc. Good luck!

They are an interesting sales organization.
Definitely tell to sell.
Not interested in promoting the truth.
Many times they walked into my cath lab, chasing
cardiologists. These reps were a real nuisance and now
that they are turning over, the new ones are really pushy.
