No go with AMGN

I was with Chemocentryx and now Amgen. It is true many of us got increase to our base pay and our title is Key Account Manager. I've also been told a few times now that the Krystexxa people will be integrated into our sales force. We will carry Krystexxa also since we have very similar call points. Expect redrawing of territories and I've been assured that any job loss would come from the Horizon side. We've also been told that we will have opportunities for management positions in the newly drawn districts. I've heard conflicting discussion around "referral" reps but my one contact told me some Horizon reps would be offered those positions in cases where they didn't have an opening.

Bonus and RSU definitely is going to change as it did for us. Going back to a company car was a nice perk. Best of luck to the Horizon folks I heard you have some decent reps. Hopefully the good ones are offered referral rep spots. I was told those would be offered to Horizon first before they allow Enbrel reps to move over to the new division.

Why would the job loss come from the Horizon side? Doesn't make sense. They are the experts in driving the Krystexxa business. Sounds like a guess on your part.

cuts will come from all sides. The Horizon side just has a bigger target due to costs. It’s not personal, just a financial driver.

I know Krystexxa was a big deal in your world. To the rest of us it’s just a subset of gout at a high price in a specialty we can handle.

Who at Amgen in sales can handle it? One of your KAMs, really?

Everyone let’s stop speculating on who gets a job and who is laid off, etc.! It is unproductive and unprofessional! Horizon will no longer exist in several months and we all need to embrace Amgen. Thanks

I was brought over to Amgen from Celgene (otezla) and literally none of the scenarios we thought would happen happened. They left us alone for a very long time and then shuffled us up but so many of us are still there, we didn’t get laid off. There’s truly no use in speculating.

It’s not speculating but planning for the future. All organizations do it and so should you. Don’t be a mindless follower!

Thank you for posting this. I have been a nervous wreck since the last email from our CEO and Bob Bradway. I’m constantly wondering if I’ll have a job in a few months.

I know multiple people on the Chemocentryx team. They haven’t been told anything, troll.

That was a very, very different scenario. It could not be more different in terms of acquisitions - not an entire company purchases, only one drug, lean commercial organization, much less money invested. There will be plenty of layoffs here.

No layoffs in sales for at least a year. Randy Liz type levels probably not safe. Vikram is running division. Our salaries are on higher side but not crazy out of range at most companies. Amgen needed to eventually respond as they are on the low side. So not a concern of Amgen in big picture not hurting profit.

Amgen is excited to have the opportunity to learn from us in this disease space. Hopefully they won't listen to anything the Tepezza side had to say- that needs to be blown up and started new.

no one promised that there wouldn’t be layoffs in sales for a year. Our base salaries and target IC bonus with it’s uncapped status are all that is guaranteed for a year. That’s been in the agreement since day 1. That also does not mean that the total IC budget will be the same or that the goal setting/structure will be the same or that no one in sales will be laid off for a year.

No layoffs or job structure changes for at least 1 year in GBU. May not be true for other business units. Support staff including marketing will see changes. IC total comp...not just target bonus not expected to change for 1 year.
