This is still a wonderful organization!

Agreed with OP, people need to lighten up. They bc clearly haven’t worked outside BMS or this industry, this is still a great place to work.
You sir are in the minuscule minority. BMY was the worst place and people in my 30 plus years in Pharma. I have never met a more uneducated and immature lot of human skin than at BMY.

Proof - I believe you have to be there a certain amount of years to be vested in your 401K. The turnover is so great that HR initiated this rule to save the org money. My sense is over half leave before vested in BMY 401K.

I know all my other employers vested day one. Not BMY - it is a revolving door.

I’ve been here for almost four years. When I first started I felt at home with BMS, as time has gone on that’s quickly changed. Many of the people I have worked with have been toxic to some degree. Partners trying to one up you, partners stealing your ideas and touting them as their own, managers playing favorites, good o’l boys club. Things you see at other companies to an extent. But the last year has been the absolute worst because of a micromanaging RD and the shit show restructuring. I can wait to leave this company.

The ultra vast majority of organizations don’t vest day 1, average vesting period is 2-3 years at most organizations. Our 401k benefit is one of the best out there, especially for more tenured employees. A 9.5% match for 6% contribution, including bonuses? It’s Amazing!!

You are very out of touch.

Some of you have legitimate complaints, but incompetent leaders are common. Many organizations are restructuring regularly. While it’s inconvenient, constant complaining and screeching isn’t behavior that will improve our situation.

I do like the 401k, but 9.5% match? Please show the document with that percentage. Right now I get 6% match which is based on age and years of service. Our salaries and bonuses are below our peers too. Over time the lower IC really adds up. I’m in ONC and I have friends at other companies making more than I am in other specialities. No incentive for me to stay anymore. I’ve never been at a more toxic company. I didn’t believe the CP posts when I started at BMS. I truly thought the people were wonderful and loved the culture.

Wrong!

The majority of well established and well managed organizations vest 401k at day of hire. BMS is not well managed and therefore saves big $$$ by not vesting immediately. Look around because next year 80% of the people within your narrow eyesight will have moved on. Call it a hunch.

I’m not HR, so search our policies on mybms. Our 6% match increases with age and years of service. At age 40, it’s 10.5% (6% + 4.5%). I’m confident our plan is one of the best.

For those criticizing, find five other Fortune 500 companies with a better plan. I’ll wait.

it's not one of the best. it takes 3 years to fully vest which is higher than any other large company out there. the other annual match that BMS does takes 5 years to vest. it's awful.

there is a 90% chance that any given employee will be gone from this place in <3 years, either voluntarily or involuntarily. and your match in that case will maybe be 2 or 3%.

the only thing worse than a corporate bootlicker is a dumb one that doesn't understand what they are touting.

and as the guy above said, most orgs either have vesting at hire, or at most after 1 year of service if they have a requirement.

to those who are dullards, BMS indeed has a "great match". to those who can do basic math, it's god awful like everything else in this toxic dump

You are HR. Nobody but someone with a vested interest would be so vigorously defending this hellhole of a company.

I prioritize fulfilling my job responsibilities and maintaining a positive work environment, regardless of BMSs’ success or failure.

Our company offers a great 401k plan. I asked for five superior examples, but you responded with crying, name-calling, and entitlement. You can’t prioritize facts or objective analysis.

You’re a hopeless child, may god have mercy on your restless soul.

Only 22% of employers offer immediate vesting, and the most common plan is a 50% match up to 6% (3% total match).

This is from a 2023 Vanguard report. No one has offered any factual or objective information. Have you considered that perhaps people like you are part of the problem? What have you done to improve your coworkers experience?

you are a moron. that includes every 401(k) plan out there, incl. start-ups and small businesses with 5 employees. not a valid comparison.

the comparison set is other large companies. on that comparison BMS plan is objectively awful. and on top of that most employees will only keep a small % of the match, if any, when they either get laid off or end up leaving for greener pastures. turnover rate at BMS is immense.

don't be an idiot. idiots end up at BMS.....wait...maybe it all makes sense. carry on then

it's not my job to educate an idiot.

if you can't do basic research and make simple judgements, then you deserve your pathetic existence working at the Sinking Ship of BMS.

carry on loser.
