This is still a wonderful organization!

On behalf of the silent majority of BMS employees who support our LT — thank you, GLT, for all of the wonderful things you do!
I don't know what area of the company that you are in, but I can assure you MOST of the employees I've talked to are looking to get out or are reluctantly hanging on for some reason. Employees are unhappy overall.

I believe the vesting is four years for the discretionary annual contribution, unless something has changed. I think the BMS 401K plan is great. I've never been able to invest in individual stocks in other plans. That said, I can't wait to find another opportunity. I want to be happy here but the leaders top to bottom have been awful. I've had six regional managers, four VP's, and three managers in three plus years. Part of the problem at BMS has been the chronic change. No one sticks around long enough to build anything meaningful. And they all have a personal agenda and will step on people to meet their goal.

“Silent” is correct. They are all mistaken that their names will not be on layoff lists. Let’s watch the support after the names start popping up. They are not silent. They are fearful. All the talkative ones are on layoff lists.

Please be more positive! There are great People here!
There’s no doubt that there are great people here, but staying positive is difficult when executive leadership continues to mismanage the company. A lack of vision and viable strategy, a series of poor business development deals, and ongoing reorganizations have done little to boost morale, engagement, or confidence in the company. Meanwhile, none of the C-level leaders have been held accountable for the poor decisions that led to this situation.

I've never worked for a company with as many unhappy coworkers as BMS. Most are sick of the executive title hanging carrot to do extra work that doesn't actually lead to a promotion, tired of the micromanaging AI call suggestions and tired of management not listening to the sales force. I actually think they want us to leave so they dont have to pay severance. That's why working here sucks so bad and if you stay you feel like you are selling your soul and wasting your time on soon to be expired products.

BMS blows!

I never understand you whiners who come on here and say how unhappy you are and how horrible of a place this is to work. If you don’t like it, leave. Or maybe it’s because nobody else will hire you because you’re underperforming!!

Oh trust me. The top performers are leaving. BMS is a sinking ship. Good luck on the BMS titanic.

I couldn't agree with this more.

What is the leadership team that gets those fat paychecks doing? Keeping under performers on the payrolls so that they themselves don't start looking bad? Or no they have no role or responsibility for these whining under performers on BMS payroll?

Asking for a non-toxic, fair working place is everyone's right! Just because some idiots hold power does not mean that others either need to shut up and take the shit or leave.
BTW you too could have chosen to not be here on this board. This doesn't even pay anything but hanging in that toxic shit workplace at least helps pay the bills and put food on the table but still look at yourself. You can't even stay away from a board frequented by 'whiners'. What a loser you are!

I left a while back, thank you. I come here to validate my decision and gloat that I am happier and earn more with a caring organization. Later chumps!

Leadership, especially at the VP level, as a general rule, do NOT have the skillset to do their jobs well. And the sad part, they know it too. So we sit here, and sit here, and sit here, knowing we will never win under these circumstances. Then they change the VP, and the new one is worse than the first one, then it happens again, and again, and again, and again, and we can't get out of the insanity.

While I agree with most of the statements on this thread, these problems are not unique to BMS. You could easily replace BMS with Amgen, Pfizer, Merck…. It’s a big pharma problem.

Big pharma is overstaffed and underproductive. Therefore:
1. You can’t innovate and have to buy smaller innovative companies for the assets only. Not the actual innovators.
2. People that are slackers can “get by” by staying below radar and not pissing people off. This hurts morale.
3. People stay for a LONG time, which creates a need to be political for safety and favor. Really performing well is less important than who you know. High performers that get stuck leave. Low performers stay and hide.
4. There are definitely committed doers in middle ranks (below VP) that are rewarded enough to carry the water and stay, HOPING for a promotion someday.
5. VPs + get promoted based on politics mostly. It’s not that they’re incompetent (some are), it’s just that politics is MORE important. They then want to build their empire or, these days, at least preserve it. No incentives to rock boat or drive performance. More resentment.
6. This ultimately culminates in stagnation and company sucking. Only a great (lucky) turn of event in R&D pipeline or acquisition fixes or helps this and injects energy into company. Otherwise, layoffs and increased stress or career stagnation result.
7. People that see this and have the skills take action and leave.
8. News flash: AI will likely accelerate negative affects for staff, especially slackers with administrative or repetitive jobs. You have no idea what is coming here.

Good luck.
