I have been with them for almost a year and I will try to limit my bias just to provide info for those interested.
The product regenerates site specific tissue. When the sheet (which is usually used in conjunction with the faster resorbing powder version of the same product) is placed on a "wound" site, the bioactive components (within the basement membrane of the bigs bladder) recruit stem cells, more specifically, progenitor cells, specific to the injury site. The product has been shown to be capable of regenerating several types of tissue without scarring that include, but are not limited to; dermis/epidermis/bone/tendon/muscle/fascia.
The problem (a good problem to have for this early startup) is that there are so many potential applications so you really have to be smart about where you are spending your time. The sheets are offered in a variety of thicknesses. There is a single layer (designed for more superficial wounds) and a 2, 3, and 6 layer option. It is not uncommon for reps to have a breast recon case, wounds with exposed bone/tendon, hernia cases, huge open abdomen wounds, as well as diabetic wounds all in the same day or week. The powder version of the product (same makeup as sheets) is very flexible as well.
Im not a medical sales nerd that is going to bash any other companies. That said, the technology and results I have seen have been extremely impressive. With one technology (with varying thicknesses) we compete with a lot of large companies including Dermagraft, Integra, Strattice, Alloderm, ect. Each has their own set of challenges and loyal users, but each time (no BS here) a doctor has tried Acell he has been very impressed. The best part of selling ACell is that there is a use for it across so many specialties.
