Adv Lap Specialist

that nerd is horrendous. He rode the coattails and polished the knobs of DG and DM for years to finally get promoted. The only reason he got that position is because he is one of the few mgr's that has stuck around longer than 5 years. If you think about it, Applied really didn't have any other choice once his higher ups got promoted. Lesser of 2 evils of you ask me.

nobody asked you.

nobody asked you.

Are you blind, retarded or both? Actually the previous poster explicitly asked what the opinion of ZM Brian was so I responded. But thanks for trying to bump the post Brian! You're a cool guy to have a beer with, but couldn't find your way out of a paper bag if you were given a map!!!

This company is ridiculous. Flew out of town to have my second interview on my own dime. Promised reimbursement but had to follow with the hiring manager for reimbursement for no less than 3 weeks. At the end, recieved a personal check from the mgr. to reimburse. Who does this? Cheap fucks, that's who...unprofessional at best.

Same poster as above. What company with any class asks you to pay for your own flight for an interview? Applied you are a fucking joke. I dare to hear the uneducated response....cheap bastards

I call bullshit on this one. This is not part of the standard process and Applied pays for reasonable travel for interviews. Why would a manager pay for that out of their own pocket? They aren't going to be reimbursed by corporate if they did it this way. I think you're full of it.

Why would I lie? Made me look more like a fool for trusting a company that would do this. Just think people ought to be aware of what they're getting into. If they treated me like this during the interview process imagine what it would be like down the road.

You're lying to get your post to stick on this site. I know so because I know the process here. If you think it's true, then post the hiring managers name and let's see what happens.

why? So you can fire him? Youre all scumbags, so that's not happening buddy.

There is trying to make a company look bad by posting real valid concerns / complaints, then there is this... either a ex employee or current disgruntled rep coming up with complete bullshit and hoping something's sticks.

There are valid concerns and complains, your bullshit post takes credibility away from that.

What is the company culture like for the Southern California area? I know their headquarters are up in Orange County. Are you constantly under the microscope being in their backyard?

True. I meant the external team is typically not under the internal corporate microscope. I don't know about the manager for those areas though. Those vary from district to district.

Thank you. I was just a little leery of it being in the backyard of the corporate office. I would be very interested to know what the opportunity for growth in Southern California would be? It would appear that with the company being based here in Orange County that they would have the surrounding area saturated. But my call point currently is not in the OR. I was told the company is a market leader is many product categories, but not sure just how much of that is the recruiter trying to sell the position. Also tough to go on what some disgruntled employees post. I'm just looking for legitimate reviews of the company. I want to hear the bad with the good, just not from someone with an axe to grind.

to the above poster, if you have any contacts in the OR (nurse, tech, MM, purchasing, dr buddy in general, colo-rectal, uro), I would bet u anything they would say Applied is tolerable or ok at best, terrible to deal with, and/or the average rep is a joke. 80-85% of their products are sold through GPO contracts because they are commodity products that a trained monkey could use. The only reason they are still in business is because their CEO cried to Congress 14+ years ago that they weren't getting a fair shot to play (think like the nerd who couldn't get a date to prom). Although this is a generalization, you will find the average rep/associate here is under 28 y/o and couldnt sell a bottle of water to someone dying in the desert. The managers are leftover hacks from the "heyday" that did well but have come to accept this is their life because they've been hand selected by JD, DG, TS, etc so they're lifers trying to move up the corporate ladder (avg age 33-42). The specialists could be either leftovers that weren't ready for management or really old has-beens that came from Covidien/Ethicon back in the day so they run the gamut in age. The senior management team here is the biggest joke i've ever run into in my professional career. They're 52+ in age, have been with Applied for 15+ years, are severely out of touch with reality, could never get a job with a reputable medical device company because they've burned so many bridges professionally, and walk around like their %#*^ doesnt stink. But don't ask me, do your HW and ask around. I would venture to guess most people would agree with this assessment.

The post above this one is an example of the kind of disgruntled anonymous crap you'll get on here. There's definitely the share of crap, but there's also a lot of potential if you work for it. I don't care what company you go to, nobody is going to hand you a fat paycheck with a huge expense account and perfect managers. You have to work like everyone else. If you expect to only be working 4-5 hrs a day, then go find somewhere else. Look on every board here. Everyone complains about everything. Especially the managers. It doesn't matter who your manager is, they're automatically an "idiot and a hack and couldn't get a real job at any other company because they're stupid."

Don't base your opinion of a company based on what you read on here. This is a complaining board. Everyone has something to complain about. The job will be what you make of it. Applied has been growing consistently for 30 years under the same senior leadership. They're obviously doing something right that the market likes.
