Typical Celgene. Shawn will get hers someday. I wonder how they would feel if they were on the other side. Abraxane will sell 30% less next year. Merry Christmas.
Dudes, that severance package is pathetic, sorry to hear about this, but that's not Celgene, that's Abraxis that should have fought for your compensation
Especially since there won't be any interviews for about a month right now.
While some of this treatment is the fault of Abraxis not negotiating a better deal, Celgene has the responsibility here. I've heard from many of you today and I cannot believe who they let go. With all of the other groups, DSM, NAM, RAM, it seemed they were choosing well. When it came to the sales force, though, there seems to be no rhyme or reason.
I know the job market is tough right now but there are also glimmers of hope, especially for people in oncology and with the talents you have. If you haven't already, get your resume together. Know that most jobs are found by networking with someone working at the company. The great thing is, there's been so much turnover at Abraxis that your previous coworkers are out here, everywhere. We will help you. I don't think anyone thought they were retiring at Abraxis so it was just a matter of time and you will survive this. Look around at who was let go and you know it was not because of performance, ability, or interview skill. Your in the company of some of the best reps in the nation. Another company will be very fortunate to capitalize on Celgene's idiocy.
Most job searches are taking about 6 months. Keep your head up and don't get discouraged, especially when it takes some time to find a new position. Confidence, without cockiness or over confidence, will sell. Read all the interview tips and suggestions on line. The interview questions are things you already know but they help you think through what to say. Your best likelihood of finding that job is through networking, followed by the company web sites, and then recruiters. You can do better than working for a company that treats people this way.
I know a lot of Abraxis reps and they're all good people. Keep your heads up, don't get discouraged in the job hunt and best of luck to all of you.Especially since there won't be any interviews for about a month right now.

Greg L, Emilie S, Andy H, and Basil P? All top performers too and Celgene was crazy not keep them.
We paid 3 billion for Abraxis that gives us the right to do whatever we want.

The right to do something doesn't make it the right thing to do.[/QUOTE
Well, an ex-Abraxis mgr. wrote the book on this tactic(right to do something vs the right thing to do)....now at Novartis(ex RAM queen).......Karma will deal with her in due time.
Glad I turned down the job. WHEW over the last 3 years, Genzyme, BiogenIdec and Abraxis all offered me jobs in Onc and I turned them down. My job is not great, but at least I still have one.
Why do you think they let us go with only 3 weeks left in the year?
Was anyone offered a position in the Hematology franchise? Did they not tell us in Chicago that reps would have a chance to join the Hem team? More lies?
Why couldnt Celgene handle this the way other companies have handled recent separation? A real severance and a 60-day warning would have been the way to do it
I hope that someday the Celgene folks find themselves in a similiar position.
Who is left in Chicago?
Would you have felt better if you were laid off in January?? You knew this was coming...many of us have been laid off before, be prepared. The separation/WARN are never guaranteed....WARN only happens if you have a % of people in a given geography and the Abraxis #'s weren't there, and finally, the bad sev. package was not Celgene, that was Abraxis not getting it done.
