Application Process Age Discrimination

I have interviewed with many companies within the last 6 months. In the past, I would fill out an application only if a company hired me. I am now experiencing that most pharma and healthcare companies send me an application right BEFORE the interview.

The application asks for my social security number and year I graduated from college.

Is this Legally acceptable?

It must be, because it's happening quite a bit.

I saw a job posting not too many months ago for a pharmaceutical sales job. Specifically requested year of college graduation AND that it must have been in the past five years.

I was kinda expecting the next line to be something like "attach picture of applicant in her cheerleader outfit."

EEOC should check out Lilly's application process. FILLED with age screening questions.
